NOTE: I had to pull down the original upload, due to an edit error, so if you watched previously and don't mind playing it again, it would really help the health of the video, as KZbin examines views, comments, and interactions. Not looking for or encouraging fake views - only mean if you watched previously. This is just due to having to re-upload, as KZbin doesn't provide a way to retain the same links when correcting a mistake.

Thank you for uploading the new video even though it hurts you ratings. This seems to be a very strange policy that discourages creators from putting out the best content they can. I do not understand how you tube works but do I understand correctly that you would benefit in some small way if I leave a comment under every single video even if I have nothing useful to say except that I love your videos?

RULES TIP! One item that can be a little tricky to remember, is in what situations different crew can participate. Here's some guiding principles! 1) The only time players cannot use their crew abilities to help another player/crew member is when they directly affect weapons stats in an attack: BLOCK, +1 DAMAGE, or +1 ACCURACY. Otherwise, you can always use adventure cards or your abilities to help another player/crew member. 2) Equipped ability cards generally only affect the crew that has them equipped (unless the card says otherwise).

It literally says "gain 1 xp" so do we just gain 1 xp total and we have to fight over who gets to spend it? With coins it makes sense you only get one total bcuz the items u buy with coins go into a communal area. but with XP it doesnt go into a communal area, it goes to one character and nothing else. We are working together but it makes it weirdly competitive and very "hey, you got the last xp this ones mine." "no way man u bought the lamp and i didnt want it so the xp is mine." Second question : in combats sometimes to cover/hit a space with more than 1 heart needs to have this number in strength. However, sometimes the number two appairs as a symbol which represent the strong of the monster's attack ( not a heart symbol) . In this case , i need to have a hit igual or higher than this number? 2 questions: 29:40 When talking about reducing damage from an enemy counterattack you mentioned activating adventure cards or crew abilities. Can another player use a different crew ability to help block damage? In this case, could another player controlling Audrie spend 2 command to use her crew ability to block one of the damage Kannan is about to receive? Also, if a character defeats a monster by covering their last health, does the monster still get to counterattack before being discarded?
@WatchItPlayed3 жыл бұрын

I'm always noticing different games in the shelves during your intros. Is your collection always growing or is there a finite amount of games you keep and forced to purge every so often?
@WatchItPlayed3 жыл бұрын
I have a finite number of games I keep, but things moving around on my shelf can just be things moving around, it doesn't mean they are leaving the collection.

If a player wants to discard one of their ability cards during a challenge in order to contribute +1 of the shown skill to the challenge, do they have to do so before the active player draws fate? Or can they wait to see if the fate drawn is sufficient, then discard their ability card only if necessary?
@WatchItPlayed3 жыл бұрын
You discard after, once you know if it's needed or not.

When you gain XP, is it a single pool for all players to spend from or for each player or just for the player that is the active player? Thanks in advance, Jamey
@WatchItPlayed3 жыл бұрын
XP is shared. When you perform a Port Action, the active player decides how to spend it, though players are encouraged to discuss together how to spend it.

So, what happens if 4 rooms are damaged? The same as with 5 rooms? Except I am have to return to the still usable room in the next turn?

Right, it limits the places you can assign to.

It was an editing error, but not a rules error.

Just got this game yesterday and have started the intro scenario etc. Mostly so far so good, but one question I have is on event cards. When you draw an event card and resolve it - assuming it's not "ongoing" and is to be discarded, where does it go? A discard pile? Back in the box? In the "used quests" box, maybe (I know it's not a quest, but the implication is this event is now done and dusted as far as this campaign run goes, and so is now out of the game)? Couldn't find it in the rules or this video - everyone just says to discard it, but I'm a little unclear on what that actually means in a practical sense. Apologies if I'm over thinking it 🙂(wouldn't be the first time). TIA
@WatchItPlayed2 жыл бұрын
It should mean you just discard it face up on the table. I don't have my copy handy to be able to check for you though - sorry!
@AdamHelman2 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for the reply. TBH, now that I've been playing it for a few hours, I decided to just stick these Event cards in the Used Quests box (along with the used quests). Event cards are only ever used once (it seems, so far) in any one campaign, and having essentially a non-functional discard pile just takes up (especially for this game) valuable tabletop real estate🙂

Thank you so much for this video - it's incredibly helpful! I wanted to double check the rules for challenges: if I understood correctly, your video seems to suggest that you can use the *crew special abilities* only of crew who are participating in the challenge, BUT you can use the equipped abilities of any crew member (regardless of whether they're participating or not). Is that right? The rule book wasn't totally clear on this point: "you may now use crew abilities, adventure cards, and equipped ability cards to alter the outcomes of the fate draw by spending command to activate their abilities"
@WatchItPlayed2 жыл бұрын
Hey Maxime, it's been awhile since I shot this, but I do know I included clarifications in the video that weren't called out in the rule book, and the publisher always checks our videos over before they go public, so I'm as confident as I can be about what I have in the video. Hope that helps!

Thanks Rodney, helpful as always. When playing with 3 players is there a recommendation on which characters each player controls? I.e. one player will only have 2 characters, is it best to give them the most used characters?
@WatchItPlayed3 жыл бұрын
There are no recommendations there as far as I know.

“First Strike” So I could find it in the books and it wasn’t covered in the video. How does first strike work?
@WatchItPlayed3 жыл бұрын
I do by best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects/keywords, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. If it helps, sometimes downloading the rules PDF and doing a word search can work. I did that and found it on Page 35.

So if i have an exploration, like the very first one, there you just find something and can search through it, without any perception checks or so, is this still a challange and i have to assign one of the crew, needing to put down a fatigue? Because i got some coins but also some damage and poisen Or can i just choose afterwards who gets it what?
@WatchItPlayed3 жыл бұрын
If you explore and gain a reward, but the story does not list any challenge (perception, strength, savvy, cunning, or craft), then you do not have to assign fatigue to a crew member. Assign the listed damage and status tokens to any crew member. You may split the damage between crew members, and the status can go to any crew member.

Quick question Rodney, when we miss we can do 1 damage to the enemy, but how do I assign that damage? Does it count as a new source of damage and I can choose where to put it, or do I need to still place the damage on the enemy squares adjacently? Ty so much :)

Hello! How does quest cards work? Are they discarded after completed or kept?
@WatchItPlayed3 жыл бұрын
Hey Kim, when the storybook says “Lose quest x,” or “Complete quest x,” place the specified card in the used quest box. Once quests are in this box, you cannot retrieve them (unless you are resetting the game for a new campaign). Essentially, the game should tell you when to remove them.

I passed on this Kickstarter (i have too many games I need to get to the table already) and honestly haven’t even played any of Ryan Laukat’s other games yet....but, man....i love his art style. Eventually i will pick one of them up and see if I like how they play. What would you suggest as a good entry game from the Red Raven library?
@WatchItPlayed3 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for the interest. I tend to avoid giving personalized recommendations. What I like, someone else might not - but hopefully you see a few games on here that might be what you are looking for!

@Jason - My first Ryan Laukat game in the series was Above and Below. That still seems like a good starting point to me.
