I love that bike. I’ve had it for 14 yrs! Sometimes I think about changing it but I can’t find anything I’d be happy with. It’s v comfortable and produces nearly all its torque under 3,000rpm…it rides as smooth as a magic carpet and pulls like a tractor!😎

The perfect video to prove to the "all the gear" crowd that you don't NEED a 15 gigawatt lithium set up with an induction cooktop and a 240ltr fridge to enjoy a night out camping! A couple of thing's to bear in mind with a hammock, invest in an under quilt (you'll wake up a lot warmer) and never pitch a hammock any higher than your prepared to fall! (Coming from the bloke going away with his square drop next week)!!! :) I'll try and remember to do a walk around of the square drop for you as well.

Cheers Steve! I like getting back to basics every now and then…reminds me of camping as a kid in the local forest but I also like all the comforts of modern 4x4 camp set ups too…there’s always a new bit of kit that I ‘need’ Lol. I was warm enough in the hammock, I was wearing thermals and the sleeping bag was inside a bivi bag. I get your point about not hanging the hammock too high but I wanted to be as far as possible from snakes and Goannas…the biggest Goanna I’ve seen was in that camp area last year and many snakes too! I prefer my hiking tent to the hammock set up…especially if the weather turns. At this stage I’m now back on the FF camper instead of a diy hard shell. It will be closer to $15k whereas the 2nd hand camper trailer market is dropping. I’ll probably keep it for a couple of years then upgrade to something like a 2nd hand Jayco Crosstrak. I’ll probably change my mind again next week…Lol first world problems 😎

nice one Frank - wow talk about minimalist, you were running very slim mate, reminds me of my trips but I had a few more luxuries strapped to the Strom like an esky for a cold one or two and some food for a couple of days. maybe you could go for a Ural and sidecar for Digger hahahahah, thanks for the trip down memory lane, Cheers 👏👍🏍😋

Hey Steve, I like to do a minimal camp every now and then…it’s easy in mild weather but if it’s hot or cold, I’ll need some luxuries! Digger would love being in a side car!…but I would not love a Ural lol

Cool video Frank, lov forrest camping, these hammock/tarp video’s are becoming more popular, great alternative camping, just have to really minimise what you take away, thanks for sharing

Cheers Louis, I enjoyed that one. reminded me of the type of camping I used to do as kid. Next time I'll probably take my hiking tent, instead of the hammock...its not very practical for the rest of my kit. The Possums were very interested in what I had! Lol

Hola Angelica, Having all the Luxuries of camping is nice but I like to ‘rough it’ sometimes…it gets me even closer to nature! I’ll do more trips on the bike but I’ll use my hiking tent instead. The hammock is ok but not very practical, especially if the weather turns. Do you have any suggestions for a recipe you’d like to see me cook?

One of my favourite meals is spaghetti. check out my road trip part 2 video in Menindee Lakes. There are 5 videos in that series but in part 2 I make spaghetti Bolognaise 👍

Nice video. I started watching it last night and fell asleep. So had to watch again this morning. I love my hammock! Best night's sleep! Question: when handling raw meats while camping, and not having access to a lot of water for washing, do you worry about contamination of your hands or utensils from the raw meat? I always bring a handful of latex gloves when camping or backpacking when doing something I am worried I may not wash well enough due to restricted water amounts (this would be handling raw meat or even when wiping after doing my "business").

Thanks! Did I make it too relaxing?? Lol. I removed the meat from its original, leak prone packaging while at home and vacuum sealed it. I always carry wet wipes and hand sanitizer, which are good for utensils and ablutions. Whole red meat is not too much of a worry for one night but mince, chicken or pork needs handling with more care.

G'day! Yes, we are still in winter here in the southern parts of Australia but we are fortunate that it is usually quite mild for most of it...currently its been between 15-20C The middle of the night drops to 5, 6, 7C. Sometimes it snows just an hour west, in the lower regions of the Blue Mountains! Japan looks like a beautiful country to go camping. I would love to go one day. The food and culture is very interesting to me. Happy Camping! 👍

Lol, Digger is a little unsure around my bikes…maybe too loud and aggressive sounding for him. It would make a great photo though! Someone suggested a side car, I’m sure he’d love that…but not me Lol “Only bikers know why dogs stick their heads out of a car window”
