He is a very lovably boy!! And that campsite is a special place…hopefully I’ll get better weather next time I go there. I chose that place for many reasons but mainly for the stunning sunrises but it was too cloudy…and I was scared to send the drone over the edge of the cliff in those strong winds. I’ll build up confidence as I learn how to operate it better. Thank you, again for the money you sent. It’s very much appreciated. I’ll use it to get an electric blanket for the camper trailer…Digger does like to snuggle in a warm bed!

Thanks Suzanne, that really is a great spot…I just wish others would respect it as much as they enjoy it…I removed a bag of rubbish and what is it with campers throwing glass bottles into the campfire🤷 One can only get there by driving, yet they throw glass around the place. Is this common in the states too? That stuff takes eons to break down😞

@@4X4CA Sorry to hear that some people aren’t respecting camp sites. It makes it harder for everyone. It can also end up restricting access by land management officials when people don’t take care of nature. It happens here in the states. We tend to stick to state campgrounds and they are well maintained so we don’t have issues where we camp. Some people just don’t care and I will never understand that. We can enjoy nature and take care of it at the same time. 🙂

Do you think a solo woman would be able to camp with a FF camper. Mmmmmm or im thinking a small poptop instead?? It all looks so amazing ❤
@4X4CA
@4X4CA 28 күн бұрын
Hi Robyn, The short answer is, yes. They do take a bit of a push as the bed reaches the apex of the lift but the campers come with a hand winch if you find it too heavy to do by hand. So if its a FF you really want, you'll have no problems setting it up. My two cents- If I had my time again, I would stick with a regular tent until I could afford to get a hybrid, hard walled camper. The FF campers are a big upgrade from a regular tent but it is still a tent and has all the tent problems. 1. Canvas easily gets mouldy...so you can't just store it away and forget about it. 2. Canvas flaps in the wind, making noise while trying to sleep 3. In strong winds it feels like its going to collapse on top of you. 4. zero insulation from heat, cold and noise 5. big gaps between the tent and the body of the camper (mozzie, spiders etc. some gaps are big enough for a snake to get through!) on my camper anyway, maybe other brands have fixed that problem...its something I've never seen anyone mention in reviews on tent trailers. My choice would be a 2nd hand hybrid camper...even those with a canvas extension like a Tvan etc. would be great. The bed area is hard walled with a canvas 'living room' area and even a hard floor. MDC just brought out a model called Forte9+ good price, weight, size etc. It really depends on your budget and type of camping you like to do. There is a lot to consider when buying a camper. the market is huge (in Australia...are you in Australia?) so many options that you will be able to find something tailored to your particular needs. Let me know if you want anymore help 👍

@@4X4CA For your channel content I would recommend swans crossing campground in Kerewong state forest, Coopernook is nice this time of year with extra rain and tracks to explore. Bulahdelah state forest is an overnight stop and accessed off The Lake's Way. Thanks for that! 👍 ...I'll check them out (Swans Crossing, rings a bell) It's a shame dogs are not allowed in NP's, they are so much more beautiful...whereas SF's can be a bit same, same. SF's do have nice spots if you know where to go...usually somewhere that has a decent amount of elevation to take in the views or access to water, even if it's just a little stream. Cheers!

Hi Frank! You and Digger look so happy to be back in the wild. I see some new additions to the inside of your tent trailer. The bug netting around the bed makes total sense and the corner kitchen counter is a really nice addition. As always, I’m most impressed by your camp fire skills. Doesn’t matter how you build it, it burns nicely. Our summer has been hot and we’ve been camping a ton since the spring time. By the way, that pizza was fire! Welcome back!

Hey! Very happy to be back in our natural environment! There’s a long ‘to do’ list for the camper. I put the mozzie net up because these campers have a major flaw…big gaps between the tent and the body of the camper! 🤷 The indoor kitchen is ideal for cooking out of the weather…especially first thing in the morning when it’s cold and all I want is a hot coffee. But next week I’m planning a ‘back to basics’ camp as the site I hope to get to is up a ‘goat track’ and impassable towing a trailer. But the views will be worth it!

@4X4CA
@4X4CA Ай бұрын
Hey Steve, I was always coming back, just a matter of when! Yep, a diesel heater is on the to do list. The wind flapping the tent made me think I should have built a hard walled camper! lol …maybe I could convert the tent trailer??🤔 Do you reckon it would be best to extent the current hard wall up or build walls on the inside? fridge panels or diy ply panels? Lots to think about!
@stevepratley
@stevepratley 24 күн бұрын
@@4X4CA Personally, I would not be inclined to mod the camper, for the length of winters we get here it's not really worth it. If your going to get a diesel heater, I have one of the standalone units and just run it into the awning on mine, kept me plenty warm enough even though the temp dropped to -2 on Monday night. You could take one of your jerry cans out and stand the unit on there and just vent it into the camper. We did a similar thing the other week when demonstrating it to a mate in his caravan, involved a table, a milk crate and some towels to block around the toilet window to get the hot air in there but that was half the fun!
@4X4CA
@4X4CA 24 күн бұрын
@@stevepratley Whats the standalone unit your using? The main reason for a hard walled camper is not so much the insulation but rather the speed of set up and access inside while on the road or at home...its a pain to set it up just to get at something. insulation from heat, cold and noise would be a luxury bonus. I've had my eye on a Tvan for ages but at $30k plus for used one, there out of range atm...maybe I can grow the channel to the point where hybrid camper companies want me to show case their units!...in the meantime, I'll do it tough! Lol Cheers, Steve
