When I was in Middle School (I'm a junior in highshool) , my dad was an alcoholic & he somewhat still is. Just not as much as he used to be. (He used to drink every night & now, it's normally on the weekends abd he doesn't get falling down drunk that much). And when he would get like that, I'd cry & listen to this song. Because I related to it so much. I had both of my parents but at that time, it seemed like he wasn't there. And I just remember hating him so much but now, we're closer than we were. And yesterday, he told me he's going to quit (at least try hard) because he wants to see my little sister graduate. And back then, that was all I could've asked. So guys, it does get better. And if you have one parent or even no parents, I'm so sorry. I truly am. And I hope one day you are able to make (if not already) a relationship with someone you can see as that parent figure. You're all beautiful people & I love you (even if I don't know you)

Nobody undersands what it feels like to feel like your parents dont love and care for you. I can relate to this song so much. My dad was and still is an alcoholic, he abused me and my sister, by always yelling and screaming at us about how we couldnt do anything right and we were an embarrassment. One night the guilt of him being and achoholic and abusive father got to him and he tried to kill himself, at that point i was depressed and at the time self harming. My mother got fed up with his crap and put a pfa against him for 3 years. Now he is drinking more then ever and its getting worse. Even though i stopped self harmimg. i still think about him every night and cry because hes probably at the bar drinking his life away.

This song relates to my older sibling which is my brother he was born in 2000 hes now 20. When he was 14 he went to get breakfast my dad came and took his plate so my brother got up and went to his room. my oldest siblings are my sister and brother who werent my dads real kids. Another time my dad brought pizza for me and my other sister who was my dads real kid like me. My dad told me and my other sister to come eat and my older sister and brother asked if they can come to but my dad said no. So my other sister felt bad and snuck some pizza to their room so my dad wont get mad. I felt really bad and started crying. Also one time when my uncle and his wife came over they had to sleep in my brothers room and my dad made my brother sleep in the living room.so i asked my dad why my brother was alone in the living room and i went he was alone so i asked him if i can sleep with him so he said sure. The reason why i did that is so he wont be alone.he and my older sister were misstreated by my dad.hopefully u understand have an awesome day...💖💖

Man it’s heartbreaking listening to yall’s stories in these comments. I grew up with both parents and gained something from both of them. When they split up I had to look outward for advice and guidance at times cuz of the conflict, so in part I understand the most minor struggles you endured. What I’m tryna say is family is important but you can make family. I see it happen all the time. Bring people in who matter most and make their lives better.
