Lavender is good in so many ways. Its good in essential oils, lotions, fragrances, sprays, etc. Its just so calming and relaxing, i can see why its on this list. It really reliefs any anxiety and helps you sleep throughout the night. I usually choose products with lavender notes over any thing else if they’re available. A nice list that i would like to try some of these, they seem great. Great video, very informative

try this stack if yu have severe insomnia: 1. Tart cherry as he mentioned (set up sleep) 2. Magnesium glycinate (maintain sleep) 3. Valerian/passionflower tea (relax your mind) Also if you like coffee you could take Theanine+coffee. theanine removes the caffeine bad side effects and reduce anxiety. Also you could take theanine or a good green tea at 8 pm to prepare your mind for sleeping

The tips are great. Also, try having a routine the last 30 minutes before going to sleep such as putting the phone down, turning off the computer and getting some water. Your routine can vary, but doing this every day will let your mind and body know it's time to fall asleep. It also helps to listen to some soothing music *HINT* *HINT* *WINK* WINK*.

*Has anyone else found the stresses of Covid 19 has made you sleep worse?* You can use various natural herbs to help you overcome insomnia. Pomegranate, garlic and valerian are both excellent for this purpose. _Hope this helps!_

I truly need something to help me fall asleep at night othrer than "over the counter" pills that make me feel groggy the next day and the "all-natural" path sounds like a great way to go. I like the sound of the Lemon-balm and chamomile for the relaxing effects they offer. I also love the smell of lavender and spraying my sheets with it sounds heavenly and a nice way to fall asleep.

I have tried the tart cherry juice and couldnt get past the taste and am not patient enough to wait a couple weeks to see results so will pass on that one. Since im allergic to so many things i think i will pass on the valerian and lavender ...this was a great video and i learned a bunch...thanks Cody for all of the helpful info

You fall into a couple of issues: The naturalistic phallacy: There’s plenty of herbs and plants that are more dangerous than plenty of other chemicals. Poisonous plants and fungi are natural, table salt, paracetamol and even stuff like baking powder or distilled water are chemicals because yeah, pure water is not natural, it’s chemical. Not because something is artificial or chemical does it mean it’s safer, better or has no side effects. Argumentum ad populum: Just because something is very old or very popular doesn’t mean it is good, safe or better. Mother’s kissing their kids knees after scraping them is showed to lessen pain because of placebo, that doesn’t mean that it’s a natural remedy and everyone can benefit from it, nor in the same way. Otherwise you did a good job with pointing out that natural supplements are not regulated like meds so it’s possible you’re not even buying the thing you thought you bought in the label or at the dose it said, there is a way larger window for quality control issues than in medicine. And yes, people should not self medicate or combine treatments, that’s why it’s important to make it clear that natural does not mean safe or good, it’s dangerous to believe so because some compounds can have interactions with medicine or other compounds, especially if they are psychoactive.

Something not on the list which, for those with severe sleep issues, to try, is sceletium which I use to reduce my prescription meds. I take half a zopivane and two sceletium and fall asleep easily. The second one is Idexis Sleep which contains tryptophan. I also read about L-theanine today and am going to try it at 3 tomorrow morning which is my current wake-up time. Its amazing how few people deal with this phenomenon. Help please anyone with info.

quite a good roundup, although you left out a very important herb - hops. These are used to make beer, and if you respond to beer like i do - it sends you to sleep! so hops are by far the best herb i have ever tried, as well as being quite inexpensive to buy loose from a good herbal supplier. Less expensive to buy all your herbs this way, if you can do so.

“Natural sleep aids aren’t made with chemicals” FALSE. Basically all substances, certainly 99+% with any medicinal use are made of chemicals. Is he meaning to say “organically produced chemicals?” In reality though he’s (hopefully unintentionally) parroting a science-fearing talking point.
