Family Traditions!

-Welcome to the Sleep Ranch! We are located in the Northern Black Hills on the South Dakota/ Wyoming border where our ancestors settled and started ranching in 1883.
I (Carson) work alongside my parents, Jeff and Jodi, our ranch hand, Jaques, my wife, Damaris who also works as a nurse in town, and our son Silas! We have friends and family who come along very frequently as well!
We run a cow/calf operation where we summer our cattle on the Black Hills National Forest and winter them in the foothills of the Black Hills. We also have a backgrounding feedlot, and grow alfalfa and grass hay.

Wonderful working family you have! My husband and I run a registered and commercial angus herd. We have 4 grown children that live in 4 different states. Ranching wasn’t for them so I love watching your family’s operation

I'm so happy for Trump ... cancer is so scary, and remission is the best news ever! I've come to care for your family and animals very much and look forward to every new episode. My Southern California suburbs life has been so different ... and my ancestors were Kansas farmers: corn, wheat, soybeans, etc. The family farm still exists but we cousins who grew up in California after WW2 never got to do more than visit once a year. Your channel gives me some added spice to life! Thanks for sharing.

I did see any ear mark. We use to ear mark ours. Swallow fork in the left ear where we would put the label in the bottom and in the right ear we would put an over and under bite. Branded in the most bad place to brand. Left shoulder. When I was old enough to carry the syringes to grandpa we use to brand them when they were yearlings. We would only ear mark and vaccinate when they were calves and then they would go on the forest. The yearlings they use to rope the right leg and then a bigger guy would tail them does down. When I was 19 we finally got a calf table. I hated dehorning the big ones. Big old dehorner.

It crazy that people steal cattle, but I caught someone stealing my friends calf. We had do do DNA testing to prove ownership. But the law didn't want to help in any way. The law is the law, and they should enforce it. Good old doy system.
