Yes you should totally go back. It is also a great place to visit even when it is not Halloween time =)

@ohlookitsmaria Жыл бұрын
@@kellymulderino7156 Depends where you went. I don't think the multi million dollar home owners in my town think it's ghetto. Only about 4 streets qualify as that in Sleepy Hollow. lol.

I’m visiting America for the very first time and stopping in NYC in December. I’m interested in seeing more of America at the same time so Tarrytown is on my day trips out of the city via train/subway
@G_Gatto7 ай бұрын
I hope you have a great trip! Tarrytown is a easy train ride on metro north from Grand Central and a great place to visit to see an interesting downtown with walkability to be able to see the Hudson river!
@ohlookitsmaria Жыл бұрын
Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow are very unique. We share a zipcode and Sleepy Hollow used to be called North Tarrytown. North Tarrytown is technically where the Legend took place. We share a school district and all graduate from Sleepy Hollow High School even if we grew up in Tarrytown and the Headless Horseman is the high schools mascot. The two villages don't share fire departments or Police departments. We also have not only individual but also some combined Halloween events with each other such as the annual Halloween parade which spans both villages. Both villages are very tourist heavy this time of year and have a ton of events that thousands upon thousands come from all over to be part of every year. It's too bad you didn't showcase some of the fun Halloween events and block parties which always have some awesome food truck and food fair foods. Maybe next time. 🙂

The scariest thing about Sleepy Hollow is that it took 20-some years to build on the site of the old GM Assembly Plant (the area near the lighthouse shown in the video). Rip Van Winkle could have gone to sleep and woke up in the time it took.

I like Flying Fingers Yarn store on Main Street. Elise is the owner, and sells a lot of Manos Del Uruguay yarn.

Do you know of any good hotels nearby?
@G_Gatto10 ай бұрын
I have not staid at any hotels nearby, but they seem to have a great list on the Sleepy Hollow Website: visitsleepyhollow.com/sleep/hotels/. I recently saw the Castle Hotel online thought that they recommend and that looks pretty cool and unique!

The town doesn't seem to be as much Into their headless horsemen history as Salem Massachusetts is with their witch history
@G_Gatto Жыл бұрын
I have heard that Salem takes their witch history seriously. I will have to check out Salem, maybe I will do a video there in the future!
@ohlookitsmaria Жыл бұрын
Salem and Sleepy Hollow are very different entities. We definitely appreciate our Headless Horseman heritage. I'm a graduate of Sleepy Hollow high school in the 90s and my class ring has a tombstone and the headless horseman on it. She didn't visit any of the events we have that people come from all over to attend this time of year.

Washington Irving's story was a tongue-in-cheek spoof of ghost stories, while Nathaniel Hawthorne's stories were gothic woo-woo stuff.
