This makes me wonder if it was a wise decision to give the power to amend the constitution to the government? Every govt had, has and will have different ideologies and accordingly can change the constitution as they will. How is this just?

Yes it was wise decision bcz think how can you run so diverse culturaL rich country with rigid laws the dynamicity and change is essential yaa there is need for check and balances which is already there yaa but govt have some extent power even but it is essential to have amendment provisions
