Worth noting that Carla Kihlstedt (vocals/violin) was a session musician on Mr. Bungle's California album.

Haven't checked the reaction yet but these guys might be my favorite band of all time. Challenging at first but they are surprisingly funky which should ease people into them.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned their song Powerless. Not only the creepiest song I've ever heard, but also has the catchiest bass line that will give you nightmares LoL

AMBUGATON! There is no way to ease into the bizarrely wonderful world of SGM...you just gotta dive in and swim around in the sonic mystery. The most "accessible" tune is probably "1997 (Tonight We're Gonna Party Like It's...)" That one will get ya boppin around your living room.

Being an old fart, my frame of reference would be King Crimson instead of Mr. Bungle, but I have to say I like this. I'm going to search the band name and see what else they are offering.

Please try "The Donkey-Headed Adversary of Humanity" by this same band. They were the best band I ever saw live. Absolutely outstanding.

I think it was A Hymn to the Morning Star that I heard years ago from them. Bizarre and haunting. But yeh, the commenter below is right - Sleep is Wrong is worth listening to.

SGM is weird but very wonderful if you can get into them, multiple listens can def be required. They came from the same stomping grounds as Primus! Try Sleep is Wrong by them!

Hello from New England..OMG I don't believe you did STGM...They were an 8 piece band with 4 singers a percussionist and a violin player..they are like nothing you've ever heard..very avantgarde...Try listing to THE DONKEY HEADED ADVOCERY...much more cohesive banger of a track..wow about time someone did STGM.. Peace from the Northeast...

Not 8 pieces. Five. The original line-up was Nils on guitar, flute, and vocals, Dan on bass and vocals, Carla on violin and vocals, Moe! on home-made junkyard percussion, and David on drums. Also, they all played home-made string and percussion instruments of various sorts, many of which were quite large and odd-looking. Frank eventually replaced David, then Matthias replaced Frank. And Michael replaced Moe!, he sang and played second guitar and trumpet as well as percussion.

That was weird. I like weird but this was a bit too much ”street theatre” for my personal taste. Pieces in this song where incredibly good. Heard both Björk and parts of Stolen Babies and other creative influenses. Sadly, living in sweden, I am overfed the folk music violins and not very fond of the sound. Drums sounding like they where in the next room was probably to make it sound more unproduced, which in itself is a contradiction since it is a production choice…lol go figure. I will try other tracks but this was Almost Good. Very skillful musicianship. Fun to see you guys challenged with something new too! Stay Metal! 🤘😎🤘

Stolen Babies are actually influenced by them, they're good friends, I bought merch from Dominique at one of their shows bc she was running the table They've got a lot of homemade instruments, for example using a piano string and hitting it with a hammer, they like playing intricate things on unwieldy instruments. There is a male singer that does growling but I wasn't sure if it'd be too weird for a recommendation
