In all my years playing this, I had no idea the trumpets actually take a backseat in so much of this piece. Trumpets are usually the foreground of things! For how old this concert band arrangement is, I'm surprised how common it is. In my band we use the originals from the mids 50s. They are full of notation from many generations of player and have many holes, but the music is readable enough. Amazing performance the both of you and the bells behind you.

My high school band director was a percussionist herself and she’s get so pissed if our percussionists were off beat for the slap stick LMAO I remember one year a percussionist used the slap stick too hard though and a chunk of wood splintered off and flew halfway across the band room

That's the first time I've ever heard the trombone part at 1:20. Why can't ours be like yours?

It’s just the bass trombones that play that part, it is the hardest part in the score for us by far so the other bass trombonist in my band (I am the first) skipped out and I had to play it. It’s a shame!

@@Charles-Reardon ah that explains it. We don't have a bass trombone and we only have one regular trombone

It's actually a Zigment Kanstul Bass Trombone - though similar in model to a Benge 290 as it's a custom model. (Close to the Model 1585)
