About 2001 I purchased a small Albany Cutter style sleigh from my Great Uncle Date. He had bought it out of a barn years earlier and restored it (badly) himself. I was the only relative he had who owned horses and I promised him I would drive the battered sleigh again one day. Uncle Date died in 2003 and my sleigh remained in storage. In 2009 we bought my daughter her first pony and decided we would have it trained to pull a cart (or sleigh). We also spent a great deal of money having the sleigh properly restored. We bought a second driving pony, harnesses and a cart to practice driving. The winter the sleigh was being restored (2010-11) we had great sleigh driving weather. The sleigh came home in August of 2011. For over two years we waited for sufficient snow to drive the sleigh. At the end of January 2014 we received about six inches of the white stuff. I fulfilled my promise to Uncle Date and we had a blast!
