Coming to Canada using the international student pathway may be difficult by this announcement, but the main problem is getting jobs here since even Canadians are having difficulty getting jobs for some time now. My own relative that studied here since grade school & same situation with her friends that's are complaining about the job market.

Yea, it would be difficult to some fields, but try to work in health, trades to get jobs there are a lot esp outside the big cities the prob is some people are not willing to go back to school to get a certification, or even move out of toronto.

Yes, there will be less international students but there will be more quality jobs for those who get in. Our country needs a lot of professionals, not uber drivers of baristas. It seems this is only the first step and the second one would be granting PGWP only to college programs which prepare such professionals in health care, construction, and probably pharma.

Can I study at 2 DLI on my study permit? 1 is a 6 month course , the other is 4 yr degree. I would do the short course in the summer. I can’t find any information anywhere.

If your program is less than 6 months you might not need a study permit for that one, See here: ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=484&top=15 For the 4 year degree you definitely need one. In general there should be no reason why you could not do a 6 months course and then a 4 year degree, but please check with IRCC

Each province can only accept so many students ,depending on their population. So you need to apply to your schools of your choice first.When you are accepted they will provide you with a letter of attestation….only then can you apply for visa. Right now Canada and its provincial schools are in process of setting it up. I predict next year they will come with the new PR policies.

Hi, You can use your PGWP anywhere in Canada. Since you did not start your studies yet, your spouses OWP might be affected by this. Please check with IRCC to confirm.

You can still attend that school but like you said it does not qualify you for PGWP. The LMIA is unrelated from studying, that is a separate process.

Yes it does as you do not have visa/permit yet….ie your spouse cannot come here. And as each province can only accept a limited amount of students there is a very high chance that you will be accepted in Brampton (sorry) so you need to apply to more than one school.
