Hauling Fiat-Allis 545B Wheel Loader with International 4900

The first load for my 'Little Mule' once I got it back with a new transmission from the shop was hauling my wheel loader from a job in Maryland to another job site in Virginia. It did alright. Loaded, it could still cruise along at 65 mph with the flow of traffic. However, it would drop its speed at the slightest incline. All in all, I am happy with it performance. I got it because I now have equipment that is too large to pull with the F450. This truck fits perfectly in that gap between my pickup and the larger trucks.

Now that's the T444E engine in the truck right . I have a 2000 with the non turbo 7.3 idi from navstar so mine is slow but I have the 6+1 splice transmission so I can maintain hwy speed but it doesn't pull up hill good 👎 I'm looking at the same truck just swapping engines and transmission also because mine is a crew cab its useful for me . fallenSkys prepper this is a DT466. I tried to see if I could get a 9-Spd. But both the mechanic and the the tech at transaxle said it would’ve been a lot of extra work ($) to change to another transmission. As it is, these older trucks require the smaller input shaft.

That machine weighs around 18000lbs and the trailer another 8,000 so youre looking at 13 ton... not 6. Thats alittle disturbing you were that far off lol

That 7 speed has a 9.24 and 5.35 1st nd 2nd. Its pretty much a 5LL when empty.

Yes. This truck is good for 10-12 tons. I think it would do ok at 15 tons via 5th wheel. I bought it primarily to pull my 35 foot gooseneck, but haven’t used it much since I have the Western Star and lowboy.
