As an Irishman heavily involved in GAA, I completely agree with Wilko's comparison of Rugby League and the GAA ... The more i listen to these podcasts and have gotten into league over the last year, the more I think "the culture is so similar to the gaa". Different in their own ways but theyre tough sports with a strong sense of community and with (usually) honest, down to earth people involved. Rugby league/ super league should stop trying to spread itself around the world and worry about globalising the sport. They should invest heavily in their existing community and aim to be that "sport of the north" like Wilko said. Value community over money. If it goes global organically, fair enough, but trying to force it while alienating your existing fanbase is not the answer. As an outsider getting into the sport, I love that working class, northern culture around superleague ... Id hate to see them dilute that just trying to make more money

This is odd. Based on when it was recorded - with Wilko talking about tackling Pauli Pauli at the weekend, a game against Salford which was played on Saturday afternoon - 8/2/20, means that this was recorded either on the Sunday or Monday after the alleged incident happened, reportedly also on the Saturday -8/2/20. AG seems unaffected by what happened and interesting there's detailed talk about career, culture and responsibility. Interesting to see what happens next.
