A close cousin of mine discovered that a very distant (and previously unknown) cousin was shot in Ravensbruck. Her name was Lilian Rolfe and she was a member of the Special Operations Executive. Having been parachuted into France, she worked with the French Resistance as a radio operator sending information to England. Sadly she was betrayed to and arrested by the Gestapo, who sent her to Ravensbruck. On the day of her execution, she was led out with Violette Szabo and Denise Bloch. Lilian was unable to walk & had to be carried. Denise had gangrene. They were all shot in the back of the head execution-style. A small group of us from our side of the family were able to visit Ravensbruck and enabled to lay flowers at the memorial there to these three brave women.

Seems this tactic of shooting innocent prisoners in the back of the head has been revived by the IDF. Only days ago hundreds of Palestinian bodied were dug up inside the grounds of a large hospital in Gaza. Many of the victims were found to have their hands bound behind their backs and shot point blank in the back of the head. Other bodies still had hospital garb on and others were still attached to drip feeds. Same atrocities just a different gang of thugs perpetrating them.

I applaud the documentary makers of this film, and Sarah Helm for her research. It was a hard film to watch because it really happened. Have we learned anything regarding the outcome of hatred, whether as a world of humans or individuals ,that has made us look to becoming a gentler , caring world? Torture continues, children and women suffer the world over as they are trafficked, forced into slavery, anti-semitism continues and is increasing, and it seems most of the world looks the other way. @@SLICE_Full_DocAnother quality documentary! There is a group that wasn't mentioned in this documentary. Like the resistance, they also wore a triangle patch, but it was purple. I learned about this group when I was writing a paper on Ravensbruck. I was surprised that I hadn't heard about this group before. I have seen so many documentaries and read quite a lot about the subject. When doing research for my paper I spoke with a professor at the H museum. I wanted to understand why this group was and still is almost never mentioned in the mainstream. The professor and I have heard of one theory, but it sounds fake. Supposedly, a certain group who controls Hollywood and TV doesn't want people to know about this group. It makes little to no sense. An interesting point is the one thing that sets this group apart from all the others in the camps. Because they were all either German or Austrian, they could have signed a paper renouncing their beliefs and be released. We have all heard German and Austrian people from that time say that they had no choice but to join the knotsee party. Well, these people, along with those in the resistance, prove that there were many brave Germans and Austrians who stood up against the knotsee party. Steven Spielberg made several video interviews with female survivors for the H museum. There's also some amazing stories found in the Ravensbruck section in the online H museum encyclopedia. I have to use term H museum instead of the full term or the comment is automatically removed.

Germans, Hungarians, French, Polish all others are finially homaged. Thank you for that! Finially consciousness is growing amongst the reporters of that era in time. No disrespect intended to the jewish community but they weren't the only ones out of "the whole", there were many other cultures right there alongside them. They hugged each other, they shared with another whatever they had, they wept together, prayed together and they died together. So therefor it's only morally correct to homage them together. While as I do not condone what atrocities took place under that Regime I am 3rd Generation after that war. My grandparents, my parents, my older siblings and lastly "myself" have paid reparations to the Jewish Government until late 90's for that which a "government" had done. Included in that Government were all city and state officials, all attorneys, judges, police officers, nurses, doctors and military personnel and Corporations, Churches, Reporters/ Media alike. I am German born. My family were Farmers, nothing more at the time, but we paid not only with loss of Familymembers, but also paid hard earned cash for something we "after war Generations" had absolutely "nothing" to do with. I do not take responsibility for that war which the Governments of that time decided for the Country I was born into. I harbor no shame for that which the Government of that time did. I am here now and thank God for "all" of the souls whom sacrificed their physical lives for such a horrid example, not just the jews, but the Hungarians, Dutch, Germans, Russians, Polish, and many more which parishad in the camps; so that YOU & I speak openly about "how NOT allow Governments, Officials, people in positions to be; how NOT to allow Governments to go haywire and how to speak up and use your voice"! Today passing down that road reveals large chalet type buildings for the guards Little remains of the camp the barracks have gone. Visit the main buiding - upstairs a large plan layout shows the sections of the Camp Outside is the bunker cells which is on two stories. Finding it unlocked revealed two lady guides. They did not know of Odette Sansome - a British Agent. Near the bunkers is a plaque - the place where 3 British Agents were execut 11:32 ed by a shot in the neck as they knelt and held hands. The crematorium ovens were close by .Towards the end of the War a wooden gas chamber was constructed and used. At the end of the War many women were evacuated to Sweden by the Red Cross. When I was young both WW1 and 2 were taught and shown without fear of upsetting someones sensitive nature. Our parents and Grandparents (all of mine fought in both world wars) knew they had to teach us also, although they sanitised much. Then, in 1973 “World at War” a 26 episode documentary chronology on WW2 was released on British television, narrated by Lord Olivier. Again, un sanitised (as Google now seems to believe is relevant). This tv series (and many others from other countries) should be shown as part of educational curriculum at a certain age. It takes generations to recover from such horror, but unfortunately human recovery tends to mean “forgotten”.

This a very adjusted (?) report. There is so much horror committed in these camps that is not mentioned. The forgotten women, the sexual horror of rape and mutilation must be mentioned. We cannot gloss over the horror of what men did to these people (and sadly still are). Only now are we seeing in Australia some minor form of fixing the violence to women, but it has taken the horrendous fact that one woman in Australia is killed every four days by male partners. It is because of this omission of violence to women that has happened in these camps and the attitude to reporting this violence and the continuing violence that some men (?) are still perpetrating this violence.

It's like it can't be so. The torture, evil and horrible things done to these completely innocent people, is so beyond and hard to imagine that something like this can even happen. There's no words for it really. And it isn't that long ago either. That the guards could be so cold. So heartless. So evil. That death wasn't enough, they had to suffer. The amount of men, women and children, who had to endure their evil, omg my heart breaks for them all. The total organization of it as well. It was very planned out and thought threw. How can people, humans, sit and plan this. Their's no words for this, not none that's enough. That's why I find it "fascinating". I'm not some sicko who likes to see people suffer and die. Absolutely NOT! But this's so extreme, that I'll NEVER EVER understand this evil. It's out of this world. And scary. Very scary that humans can do this to other humans. If you even can call this horrible guards and people humans. I think not.
