Hmm well yes and no. Personally to me: What brought him down is his temperament from my perspective. His accomplishes and fellows turned against him. Than he became distrustful. A dictator on downfall. Lesser in public drawn back. Before becoming frightened for either and both the Russians and Allied Forces, while too proud, too psychopathic, too distrustful, and to angry at a people, of which the best deceived him. Self centered as he was, bathing in his might, than enduring stress and constant need for top results, his end he took. It might be me, but the guy was a mf pur sang. He got what he asked for. And yes a big part to his suicide is pride not willing to give in, and not wanting to become a play doll of his very enemies. A total narcissistic ass hole pushed in the corner. Not willing to hand the enemy any satisfaction out of capturing him. And to irritate them in the hope, his death will lead to lasting followers.

this is actually horrific, my grandma was alive, still is, in the times of Hitler, she was a child yet got traumatized for life. She saw and lived through her friends getting murdered, she had to hide, people she knew were being sent to Siberia, few years back she told me all about it, her life is pretty insane and sad. Her father died in the war as she told. TW: She also told me this one thing I can't get off my mind, she was clear about the details, snow was always as high as her knees, it was extremely cold, she was walking with a few other kids she used to know, they found something shiny in or on the snow I don't recall, she wanted to go for a toilet break, obviously they were in a forest so there was nowhere to go, so she went further and hid behind the trees, while her friends I guess, were looking at the thing, little did they know it was a bomb, I have no idea of how it worked or what it was, but after they picked it up or triggered it somehow, they blew up. She came back, lucky to be alive, after hearing the blow just to find pieces of her friends bodies that were left, she told me more details about the body parts and gore but I'm not gonna talk about it. Honestly she's really strong and not even my related grandma, but since I live with her I count her as one, her life is horrifying, but all she says is that it's real.

Pretty good documentary, however one issue that arises from using existing documentaries that contain errors as source material is the perpetuation of those errors. Manstein did not single-handedly create the 'sickle-stroke' invasion plan - he had the idea for it in basic form, but worked out its fine details with Guderian. Manstein was never a tank commander and he needed Guderian to shape the plan into something feasible for tanks. Furthermore, having Guderian sign off on the plan increased its validity as a real option with the OKW. That famous sequence of the Panzer 1 driving through the river is footage from a training exercise, not the battle. There is some footage here purportedly showing motorized divisions moving toward France during the first stages of the invasion, however in fact that footage is Ewald von Kleist's motorized divisions in the Soviet Union during the battle of the Sea of Azov.

Very true. Numerous myths abound because historians and documentaries keep the myths alive. Much of these myths are from German generals trying to lay the blame for everything on H. It was Manstein's Plan though. After several changes (Following the first after the German plane crash in Belgium carrying docs with the original plan), it was finally Halder who revised it - the official name being Aufmarschanweisung N°4, Fall Gelb. Halder anyway didn't like Manstein and the original plan was made by Halder which was rejected by Hitler. The final plan was given to Halder but he was ordered to follow Manstein's thinking.

Yes the narrator says that Hitler never received military training which is incorrect. He was a corporal in trenches of the 1st world war where he received injuries from gas attacks. What I think the narrator means to say is that he didn’t receive a formal military education from a university. He was an enlisted man who went through the equivalent of army basic training. Him giving orders to the german generals is the equivalent of a truck driver instructing the mechanical engineers on how they should design and manufacture their engines and automobiles. Does he have some experience with the equipment? Yes. Does he understand the general shape of what a successful product looks like and how it might be improved in some areas? Yes. Beyond that he is totally lost as to the practical aspects, practices, materials, and theory behind his truck.

In short it could be summarised to the same mistake that dictators through history seem to have made: underestimate your enemy, overestimate your own chances/capabilities. Had Hitler listened to the advice of his generals and actually acted according to their advice especially when it came to Eastern front, the war could have ended differently. Hitler wasted so much manpower and equipment into such useless things like siege of Leningrad and assaulting and keeping Stalingrad that by avoiding these two mistakes as well as not trying to take Moscow agaisnt the winter, he could have saved hundreds of thousands soldiers
@cindymaceda29994 ай бұрын

It could have ended differently if they haven't have invaded so many countries so quickly and stretched their forces so far and left the UK alone. The Soviet Union was a bridge too far, albeit it was obviously a requirement for them to defeat the communists and Stalin already saw the threat at the time. Hitler should have held off for another year at least before that operation to build further, regroup and attack after the winter. Though with the wests support for the Sovs they still may have been defeated, but they may have held it if the USA had not have gotten involved via the UK plea. Merely my thoughts.

Then us it to destroy the British home fleet. 3rd: invade port smith to secure a foothold for airpower. Then use that foothold to build up combat power. 4th: With the control of Portsmouth firmly in control of the Nazi forces. Establish air superiority in the local air space. 5th: push north to London. 6th: once England is forced into a treaty of subordination. Then you disband its military and establish garrison forces in every county. 7th: Encourage the Russians to Fight the Japanese. By gifting India to the Russians. Excellent documentary of a particular part of the war -- how Hitler rose to be the adored leader of Germany and how, through his lack of knowledge, military strategy, and the nations that became his enemies, he trashed Germany, killing millions of Jews and also millions of his nation's young men, making the entire German population suffer and die for his own ego. If he had had the means to travel to the UK and America, and took a train across America, he would have had a better understanding of the USA and what we were capable of producing and doing on a war footing. When he declared war on the US he sealed his fate -- death like a diseased rat in a maze of damp and stuffy bunkers. He had only a limited education and was not real bright. He had an image of himself as grand, a born leader; but he was not; I can easily see why a few of his generals tried to do him in. They knew what a weak person he was. Lots of rare footage in this one also -- the women walking up a street in Berlin hauling their belongings, suddenly stopped by gunfire and not knowing which way to go to get safe. Buildings collapsing all around the street.

Superb documentary!! One Everybody should watch today, cause the world, has yet again taken such a path! We seem to have forgotten the horrors of war, and now slowly, it is spreading through Autoritarian Countries, with mad men like Hitler, thirsting for power and dominans, and based on their own twisted ideologies, either political or religious. All though most of the generations during the WWII, either are very old or passed away, we should never forget these horrors, cause if we do, the history will repeat it self.

What makes this so magnetic to watch is that it seems unreal but it's real and not that long ago really. I was born 40 yrs after the war was over.

I was born 9 years after the war ! But our parents didn’t want to talk about it. My Dad who was 16 when Pearl Harbour was attacked, could not serve and he never spoke about surviving the Japanese Occupation. It was just not spoken about.😢

To be fair the campaign in Russia was mostly given over to the OKW but the high command didn’t fully understand what giving up space to buy time meant in a country so large because in Central Europe just a day or 2 meant the enemy was at your capital city. They also thought wiping out a standing army meant victory not understanding how a nation so large can use that time to literally rebuild a whole army and multiply it by 5.

to know more about the character of Hitler you should know the following story. Hitler attended WW1. He was injured towards the end of the war and was taken out of the front . When he was recovering in military hospital the war ended but he didn't know. He wrote in the Main Kamp: one day I got a newspaper and knew that Germany lost the war , I felt I am blinded again There were indian soldiers who flighted Germany in WW2 and later named their son Hitler.There are cafeterias in Indonesia named Hitler.
