Yesterday I visited a local donkey sanctuary, one that I used to volunteer at. Joey, a standard donkey, was always my favourite. He stood still by the fence, allowing all the visitors to pet and touch him, I wrapped my arms around his head and cuddled him. These animals are surely one of the most amazing creatures on earth, absolutely smart, fearless, intuitive, affectionate. Joey was beaten with a baseball bat by his previous owner and then abandoned, tied to a tree in a field. It took him awile to trust humans again, he wouldn't come near for a long time. But now, the sanctuary owner says she would 100 % trust Joey with a young toddler or infant!

I knew little about donkeys, and heard the stereotypes that they're slow, stubborn and not too bright. Everyone knows that to be called an ass or jackass is a put-down. But I sensed that donkeys were good companions from seeing other videos. Now I have a real appreciation for their intelligence, strength, durability and loyalty. Love those big kind eyes and those great radar ears!

I've watched a lot of donkey videos. This thoughtful film introduced me to a wider world of how donkeys are suited to different environments and tasks. Side note: I was surprised that Snowflake's trail training was done solo, and not in the company of a veteran donkey. I was also surprised to learn that donkey's do not have waterproof coats. And I was impressed at how donkeys can take over and perform tasks with little or no human supervision.

I've had the privilege to take daily care of a she-donkey for 4 years. Before that, I was already very familiar with horses, but this was very different. Donkeys can not be made to do what one wants, one needs to establish trust and affection with them. Once that's done, one can ask them almost anything. She was very unyielding towards my dog Kate, who on her side, was sociable with almost any other animals. I've spent much of my life educatin dogs and socialising them and love to do so. With this donkey it was quite a job, but a pleasant and rewarding one. With my cats there never was a problem, one of them even played on the donkey's back and kept falling off when he tried to catch her swishing tail. At other times he'd just sit on a fence post with her sniffing at him. I learned a lot from her and that's what it's all about with animals : learning from them how to befriend them. I have a very fond memory of a circus elephant who was standing alone, tied to a picket with one foot and visibly bored. I walked up to her cautiously looking at how she reacted. When finally I stepped clos and stroked her trunk, she embraced me with it,and snorted gently at me.

Donkeys are fascinating animals. I have trusted them to watch over the goat herd I tended just before I left for the military. No one or thing ever messed with the goats while my donkey was on guard duty. He was a brazen animal and never let anyone come near my goats. And I wanted to buy another German Shepherd dog, what was I thinking? Very nice documentary about Donkeys.

They are often kept together with sheep, goats, and horses as defenders because they will kill predators. Unlike their reputation, they are smart and brave. And they are also extremely affectionate if they've been treated well. They love to be loved! And they make excellent caring companions to blind horses, whom they will take wonderful care of, better than another horse will usually do. Goat's are often very good with blind hoses too.

I have always had a soft spot for donkeys feeling rather sorry for them when they have been worked to death and not properly treated or cared for. This documentary really showed the positive side of donkeys whereas when properly looked after, they can be a massive asset to hills people in general. I knew they were courageous because I have seen video of them giving hyenas a real good beating. I knew they were good protectors of herding animals such as sheep and goats and are often kept as protectors of the heard. I really enjoyed this episode from start to finish. The only sad part for me was when the mother donkeys bray was kind of sad and I felt for her as I felt the young donkey was too young to be separated from its mother, but then what do I know about such things. A very interesting documentary showing their intelligence, social bond and overwhelming talents.

Once, i was invited to a dinner party. We ate donkey meat. It was delicious, but the second time i was invited, i refused. Just can't eat donkeys. They are too sweet, it is like i eat my dog. I know it's hypocritical, eat meat or don't at all

Humans are omnivorous, and when one explores different countries the creatures they eat can seem very strange to our western pallet. But to point, I don't think you're being hypocritical in any way. I won't eat duck because I happen to enjoy watching them. I used to have a pond and would sit there for hours watching them swim. And like you I can't imagine ever knowingly eating a dog.

Don’t! It’s not hard to go vegan. For years I ate meat. One day I thought I wonder if I can live without meat. Turns out it wasn’t hard at all. I’ve been meat free for over 15 years. It’s not for everybody but lots of people have gone meat free.

I believe we have the right to eat any animal. If we need to and we have the right to eat what we were designed to but not our fellow man and not any Animal that we don't want to eat. I believe in democracy and when the people around you decide by a majority that they're not gonna eat those animals or certain animals. Then I believe we should go along. However, if the majority chooses to eat that animal, then you can go along or not. It's up to you. You can always move to another community where they agree with your ideals. Of course, there are exceptions to just about every rule when you're talking about survival and you must eat to survive than never one changes their ideals and even when it comes to. Eating another human as long as there already passed and I was starving to death and had no other choice. I would probably eat another human. But only under those circumstances, no others. And that goes for dogs horses donkey's And other animals that I choose not to buy a personal relationship. For example, I've had a personal relationship with Guinea pigs. That I could never eat even if I was starving first of all because they're too small but that's not all. There, there are many animals that I have had relationships that I could never eat just because I wanted to and and I couldn't kill them even if I was starving so I could eat. They would have to die naturally. And then I probably wouldn't have a problem. As long as I was starving, starving is the quintessential word in this Thesis.

Yup, Donkeys are a special animal. People use them for their natural talents and abilities. And the donkeys seem to be addicted to ear rubs and hay in return! I think the guy that was training Snowflake, was abit of a donkey too! Everywhere the donkey was expected to go, the man was there too. Every step of the way!
