Can it cut?
@coryjordan8633 жыл бұрын
@@abumorgan1421 yeah, it cuts well. But I will say I did have issues with the cross guard coming loose and the nut not being able to be loosened for disassembly. So the first one was loose in the cross guard, although the blade was perfect, balance was great, the grip was nice and the scabbard was excellent. The second one was not nearly as good as the first. It was duller, the scabbard was compressed and dented in areas, the blade came scratched up and with discolorations that never completely came out, the balance was off, it was narrower and a little shorter. Now I'm waiting till hopefully May to receive the 3rd sword because it's on backorder. (Round 2 of warranty but 3rd sword). I love cold steel products but this has been difficult. I loved the first sword, the second one was terrible, and I'm hoping the 3rd sword is like the first just with a tight fitting guard.

Very nice piece, I own the Hand and a Half sword (12" grip version) from you guys and I can't brag enough about it's sturdy construction and overall value per dollar. With that said, I did consider both the Italian and German longswords before choosing the H&H. Only reason I passed on the Italian was the narrower point taper, a wider blade in the "sweet spot" makes for easier edge alignment when cutting. As for the German LS the quillions being swept in opposite directions (specifically the one swept towards the user) and addition of a single ring guard make this sword "edge specific" meaning the true and false edges of the blade are decided for you by the design of the hilt. This tends to make more technical cuts difficult to manage because of interference with the backwards swept quillion and the users forearms. This is just my personal observation when deciding on a sword best suited for cutting targets using techniques based on historical manuscripts. I should add that I had not handled any of the three swords in person before choosing and my decision was based solely on the pictures, dimensions and reviews I found online.

I’m surprised to hear this one isn’t selling as well? It’s gorgeous, and I would think fans of The Witcher 3 (of which, there are many) in particular would be all over this sword as it looks like it came straight out of that game (due to the same historical reference material, no doubt). I own a couple of cold steel swords and I have to agree that this one handles very well, however my only complaint is that the guard came loose from little abuse due to there being a gap between it and the blade. The blade however is perfect in both shape and quality, it cuts well and looks brilliant. The pommel is stunning and the cross guard looks beautiful too, despite its odd shape. I also totally agree with modifying swords, so overall I recommend it.

I own a LOT of cold steel swords and have one question about German long sword: IS this blade compare like Cold steel Italian longsword?Because Italian longsword and German longsword have blade 90 cm long.
@christkandosii33375 жыл бұрын
I can tell you why we haven’t been buying it. I am in the very center of this issue, this is a video directly to me because what are you talking about is that center on me. I can tell you exactly why we haven’t bought it. I really really really want a German Long Sword. I want a *German* Longsword. I don’t want an Italian long sword, I want a German longsword. But German long swords have certain characteristics. There’s certain things I want from my German longsword. Hi and this community are picky. I want my German long sword to have a grip length of at least 12 inches or more plus the Palmer so maybe 13 1/2 to 14 inches total including the pommel. That would make 48 inches of total overall length the minimum or median for this species of sword. In other words we want the long handles. We want handles of at least 13 or more inches plus a panel in addition to that 13 inches or more. The sword you have in your hand might be considered an Italian long sword or maybe a bastard/hand&half sword. In other words, your version of the German longsword has a really really short handle which is not what we’re looking for. Furthermore, the cross guard is just weird. It’s just a very very DISTINCT forceful, strong, opinionated artistic design that may appeal to some people but most people it does not appeal. Most people would like a standard straight cross guard, with standard straight quillons that look typical for most long swords that ever existed And that’s why I have not invested in your long sword. Believe me, I have dearly, dearly wanted a German longsword but I just haven’t found one that looks correct firstly, and is within my price range. In addition the price of your sword you have there is very high. The Italian ones which you sell are much cheaper and I actually considered getting one of those just because it’s cheaper and I could have a good Italian long sword, but I really preferred a German one. So I bought nothing. To sum up and say again, I can tell you exactly why your sword is not selling very well: Number one, the handle is really really short. Too short to be considered a German longsword. That looks like an Italian long sword or a hand and a half sword. The handle should be preferably 13 1/2 inches or more. Even a maximum or so of 15. Very big. And then a pommel. The blade should be 36 or 37 inches long. However this is not a great sword and so it should not be like a great sort it should be a long sword. Do you understand, we’re not looking for a great sword just a long sword with a very large handle. 36 inches or so of blade and 13 1/2 inches or more of handle. We want the point of balance to be 3 inches from the guard or less, nimble swords are good. We don’t need heavy slow choppers I personally wouldn’t want a pint of balance 1 inch or 2 inches but preferably 1 inch from the cross. I like nimble light swords. I wouldn’t be happy with a long sword that has a four or five or six or 8 inch point of balance. That would just suck. Secondly, people are really leery of that handguard. We don’t like the swirly bits we don’t like that they swirl up and down because it might touch your hands or just look weird or just get in the way. We would prefer straight regular old fashioned crossguard quillons.

The blade is 1060 and costs over $700 on their website. Ladies and gentlemen, we have just witnessed false advertising in action
@csknives5 жыл бұрын
Hi Burtis! We make this sword in multiple different steels, 1060, 1090, and 1095. We make batches and adjust our specifications accordingly. Currently they are listed as 1060 on the website because that is what the last batch was made in. The model Luke was holding in the video is in 1090 or 1095 and is from a new batch. Because we have mixed stock of two or three steels, he's using the steels interchangeably. We simply have not updated our website to reflect that it can come in any of those three steels. Arguably, the steels are so similar that they can almost be called the same. The difference between 0.60% carbon content and 0.95% carbon content is so minimal that you would not be able to tell the difference. As far as pricing goes, the MSRP is $741.99. When Luke said that you can get it for $500, he was not referring to getting it at that price through us. We operate on a dealer level, many of which have it for that price. We do sell it for $566.99 when you're logged in with an account on our website. Any realistic person will understand that when he says "You can get one for under $500 on the internet", that he's not referring to our specific website. Below are links to purchase the sword at under $500, to backup his claim. Please be mindful of your claims in the future, we have been passionately making weapons for 40 years and wouldn't be dishonest in our advertising. www.amazon.com/Cold-Steel-CS88HTB-BRK-German-Sword/dp/B019RSXY6M www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=CS88HTB&name=Cold+Steel+%2D+German+Longsword www.bladehq.com/item--Cold-Steel-German-Long-Sword-35--44199
