Great little lesson! I like how you get straight to it and teach at the same time (instead of excessive talking) also, cool view showing both hands. You helped me break a bad habit with my slide; I like how you mute the strings to isolate notes.

That was awesome my favorite tuning as my fingers due to Dupytran contracture does not let me place my fingers to chords in standard tuning. And a great lesson in slide basics!

Do you have it in one hand or both? I've got a few big knots in my right hand so far not trigger finger.) 53 yrs old and just now hitting my stride with beginner guitar. Figured I should plan on a playing in a way that suits not using those two right hand fingers when they do what they're gonna do
@markust89042 жыл бұрын
@@wjones284 Have it in both, corrected with surgery, but sadly its coming back slowly and I lost some dexterity,

@@markust8904 Guess we can thank our Viking ancestors for that. Been wondering if basic picking is going to be greatly effected, since it looks like just my ring and pinky fingers will be unusable. Thanks for the response btw, keep at it!

I already know how to play, just seeing if I can pick up anything new and I learned slide in standard so I most certainly play with my fingers to mute any strings I'm not playing but open G is definitely a different ballgame and easier. Been playing a lot of Blackberry Smoke and Black Crowes lately so open G has been fun and my voice seems to pitch around G anyways. Great lesson man!

I've heard folks say that your three other fingers must be used to dampen the strings behind the slide, but unless I missed it, it doesn't appear that you do that. Am I wrong? What do you think?
@jcurtis30water Жыл бұрын
I use 1 finger ( my index) to mute the strings behind the slide. It’s a little hard to see because I have the slide on my pinky. Damping really does give you a cleaner, clearer tone.
