Just purchased a Slide “Diamond Carving” model. I surf and found that the board recreates the movement and flow of actual surfing. On the flats it has plenty of forward momentum when pumping with compression and release like you would on an actual wave. Very happy with the choice and thanks for the great review. 🤙🏽

My wife and I started with Slide, I started on the CMC Pro and my wife has been riding the Diamond. We experienced the issues and limitations in your review but really we realised we quickly outgrew both our Slide boards as we have progressed. Our style of riding is mainly surf training either in the street (cone drills or riding concrete slopes etc) or in the skate park bowls. I moved on and now ride the Carver C7, in my opinion so much better for surf training, the Carver concave deck is so much better, I can really lean on the rails and the overall build quality of the board and trucks is superior. My wife wants to change to Yow as she prefers the Meraki truck after borrowing from our instructor. Great review guys and on point with all your review comments, now thinking of buying the Waterborne adapter after seeing your other in-depth review, keep shredding 😎🤙

Good videos, Steve. I own a pair of slide trucks, and i think it should be mentioned that some of their kingpin nuts come tighter than others. You can fix this by loosening it a bit along with having the spring set to its loosest setting (flush and flat, as you mentioned) - it then gains a lot of looseness with a good return to center. I put these on one of my Soulboardies and raised it by 2 extra risers. That way, i feel it would allow me do deep carving turns by getting very low. With its stock height, id feel too low to the ground for these turns. Still a good surf trainer to me, but i opt to use it over my Yow or Smoothstar ONLY when the session is more of a cruisey one and not one where we’ll be doing a lot more tight surf turns. But pair it with better rear truck cone/cone bushings (or better yet, a C2 rear truck) and high rebound wheels, and it becomes super capable. I’m very happy with it. it may not be the best at anything, but it does everything well, i feel. :)

I’m a 65yo non-surfer beginner. I own a Slide Gussie 31” and a Carver Yago Skinny Goat CX 30.75”. I like Slide better than CX, because Slide is much easier to pump.

Much love for the educational videos and comparison between different boards, I bought the Stingray Slide 31 an amazing choice as my first board, I was looking at the Neme Pro, but I figured it wouldnt be my preference, however your content made things much easier! Thank you ! Wish you all the best success Steve ! looking forward for the next videos love from an Egyptian in Malaysia

I dig the format you're going with for your videos. Really kicked it up a notch and you're killing it, my friend! My first board was a slide diamond. while the trucks are amazing, everything else was pretty terrible. The deck had cracks coming out of every bolt hole after a few weeks and had to be replaced. I also swapped out all the urethane and its 10x better. Used the Gunmetal pivot cup from Riptide for the rear and it was aaaamazing. Edit: I also totally agree with everything you said about the Slide trucks. Really great review.

This is my experience with slide after one basic use (of less than 1 hour). Shame because i like the board but I'm afraid its gonna break. Leason learned: Invest a little bit more and youre not gonna have to buy a new deck after one use. @Slide surfskates #not_a_great_board #surfskate #myexperience #slide

@@Iconisms I've decided that surfskate companies are just glorified truck companies. I bought an Aquilo complete to verify that, but I've already ordered all new urethane to replace on it knowing it will be terrible. Just buy parts imo.

Hey dude I've been looking at the Slide Quad/Gussie or a Carver X triton. With what you and others have mentioned in regards to the deck cracking would you suggest going straight to something else?
@tulpa19402 жыл бұрын
@@serpentor21 yes. avoid Slide til we know their quality has increased. I'd say a carver cx complete is ok, but loaded carver bolsa will be best quality. they use better urethane than the other companies, since you get otang wheels and bushings at least.
@serpentor212 жыл бұрын
@Tulpa Yer I have just been looking at those and the decks look pretty as well. I just think they are harder to get in the UK and more expensive (rightly so) then the CX completes.

Started surfskating with a Slide, and I can only agree with what you're saying. What's funny though, after trying different systems, is that I keep returning to it, not out of any emotional attachment or anything, but because I feel this is a really fun truck. I even sold a C7 that I found was too boring to buy a new set of Slide trucks. My main issue is with their decks, quality- and shape-wise. My son has a Dogtown Bulldog deck to go with his Slide trucks, and I have a P&P Nicky Guerrero, and both ride just great. That said, this is not my fave system, but it's definitely in my top list too.

I have a Fish pavones and only own one board, just started in January. 31 inch. I’m 52 and surf but not great. Excited to see if my “off-season” training in the desert will transfer to the waves. Love the board but do have deck cracks as well.

Fantastic video Steve, I agree to you in many point. According to my two year experience with completes from Slide and Yow, Slide has better components when it comes to wheels, bushings, bearings and the rear truck. The Slide decks are obviously less sporty and very light but that will not explain a price difference of about 140 € to Yow. For Bowle/Pool riding I also prefer my Slide trucks (on a classic 80s pool board deck from powell peralta) over my Carver CX due to the broarder range of motion of the Front truck (even though it has less lean than CX but that's not a disadvantage for bowle riding, similar curfboard without riser)

Interesting comments on the Slide. Noel Salas, who runs a well regarded surfboard review channel, just got a Slide (31" Gussie) and remarked that it emulates surfing better than any other surfskate - in the way that the back and front trucks work together to generate speed (as opposed to the front truck heavy approach on most surfskates). As a surfer, I have to admit that my Slide (35" Neme Pro) feels remarkably like surfing. I haven't tried any other surfskates but look forward to doing so. And thanks for all your incredible content!

Interesting. I have no idea which trucks replicate the feel of surfing best. But I'd be curious to know what else he's tried to know what he's comparing it against.

@@SurfskateLove he usually skates on a Carver. I just watched the episode with Alan, the surfer from San Diego (which was excellent btw). @@serpentor21 slide are not bad decks or systems by any means dude don't let the price throw you. I have the Neme Pro, and chose it based on your earlier guidance on Slide. I'm quite happy with it, but see some of the limitations you both pointed out. It does seem too long, even at my height of 6'3. Tailslides are not as smooth as a regular skateboard. There is no sweet spot for pumping near the middle, and feet spread wide is not a good look. Price was good; I picked up the Neme Pro for only about $160 at Surf Dome.

Needing advice here about Slide Gussie, I'd define myself as a false beginner : I occasionnaly surf (less than I used too for geographical reason), I used to skate a little (bowl skating) and surfskate a bit too on a Decathlon carver 540 (bought it at the same period as my first surfboard and neoprene suit so I had to make budget choices). I stopped skating for 1 and half here for professional reasons (couldn't risk injury) and since I cannot surf as much as I'd like to I'd really like to surfskate a lot more (I do a bit of pumptrack) including Park and bowl and a bit of surf training. I'm a bit on a budget too and as european carver are more expensive than in the US (saw a JOB C7 for 350€ in a shop today) while I found a Gussie for 185€ in a local surf shop. Is it worth it since I'm note expecting to find a carver CX for less than 250. Thanx

Thank you for the review, I'm a beginner and I have a Slide Neme Pro since 4 months and I'm very satified. I'd like to hear something from you about the wheels, mine are 70mm, 78A; I don't have any other wheels to compare of , may you say something about it ? I'd like to have something smaller to turn more and maybe something less grippy . What wheels do you I think I could use for a bowl ride ? Thank you in advance!
@Shaesi.2 жыл бұрын
The Slide wheels are not the best out there, but they are pretty good. Most people like them. However, those 70mm wheels with a sharp-angled profile are better to pump on flat surfaces. For bowl ride, you can use the Slide 65mm 78A wheels. Those wheels have an angled profile and are better for pumptracks and bowls according to their website.

The diamond has a WB of 17 or 18? cause now in the slode website there are these two options for the diamond model although the 18 looks being the one with a swallow tail. Also, would you say the diamond is wider/narrower than gussie?as these was a downside. For ref, how tall is joey?

The Diamond model has a WB of 18". The Fish model (swallow tail) has a WB of 17". The max width is the same for all Slide surfskates (10.25″) but the Diamond is much narrower than the Gussie where you place your feet.
