Yessir well explained. For 2022, the current champ has to be a Triton CX complete,even though the decks are fugly, you still get components that you will eventually throw onto a different deck of choice. I wish I could have started on a Triton at the time but instead opted out for Steve's most favourite HATED complete, the Oxelo Carve 540 🤭

The thing about his reviews is that they are always admirably direct and truthful.

I got the NKX Surfskate, got started this spring. Yes, while the quality is low, it was cheap enough for me to just take a shoot, buy it and found out that I love surfskating. I probably would not have taken a shoot at one of the more expensive alternatives. So it does serve a good purpose

I decided to buy NKX as well, it supposed to come today :) I would not decide to buy something more expensive just to learn or check if surfskating is for me.

How does the vanguard feel with Surfkate trucks / adapters? The wheelbase isn't too long? Sounds like a fun setup!

Steve, great video and thanks for what you do for the surfskate community. A couple of comments on two of the boards in the review: Tailorshape: I actually bought this in part based on one of your earlier videos. A great beginner board (with slight modifications) for the price and maybe slightly better than the Triton given that the deck is higher quality. 100% right that the wheels totally suck, but it's also important to bring up the high riser pads (2 x 1/4" + 1 x 1/8"). The high risers combined with the overly grippy, low rebound wheels make the stock setup a bit tippy and unstable. That's an easy fix though - swap out the 70mm stock wheels for a good set of 65mm wheels and only use one of the 1/4" risers per truck. Even with a wheel upgrade, you can be below $200 on one of these. Hamboards: agree and disagree. Agree that the Pescadito or any HST truck is not a good idea for a beginner. However, my first surfskate was a Blem Huntington Hop with Indy Trucks that I bought for like $140, an amazing value. This is an excellent beginner board from the standpoint that it teaches you balance and proper stance - too many beginners on more standard surfskate boards do a lot of poo stance, and you can't really do that on a Hop unless you want to fall over. Yes, it's heavy and pumping uphill is an exercise in futility, but once you develop good technique with it, porting those skills over to other surfskates significantly reduces their learning curve - moving to a CX, Waterborne, and Yow has super been easy. Just my two cents. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the very informative video! I'm totally into Waterborne - I bought the complete kit without ever having tried a surfskate and put it onto a Beercan Brewster 30" aluminium cruiser (which is pretty nice because it has a stepless variable wheelbase) and firgured out surfskate pumping within only a few minutes. I guess I had a big starting advantage because I rode skateboard for years until I broke my wrist and got into a 10 years hiatus (that's why I got interested in surfskating because it looked way more fun than mere cruising but isn't quite as dangerous for an aging man 😅), and before I started skateboarding I rode snakeboard/"streetboard" - and surfskating movement is a perfect in-between of both. Snaps and slides came back quickly and usually other surfskaters assume me to be much more experienced than I am. However - now I'm looking into RKP surfskate trucks because I realized that I still would love to ride a little transition and have something which is a little more stable when rolling fakie. Carver's CX seems to be an obvious choice, but I'm on a small budget and considering to get a little more affordable clone. Do you have any recommendations here? I probably would pick a hydroponic truck system - do you have any experience with it, and if so could you recommend it? Thanks and greetings from Berlin!

Are the CX trucks on the Tritan the same that would come on the Blacktip for example or are they a Chinese version? They certainly look a little different.

Just ordered Hydroponic for about 95$ (50% off deal), seems like your only issue was the price, so hopefully I got a great deal

First things I noticed and which is important in m'y own choice is that prices are different in the US and in Europe. I'm watching your videos because I want to get into transition surf skating and I'm looking for the right board for it but I've seen in other videos you're recommanding a carver CX board (don't remember the name) which cost 270$ in the US but I haven't found it for less than than 350€ (around 370$ I think) if they have any stock (another issue here) while a YOW snapper IS stocked and 300€ and freely shipped since YOW IS bases in EU. Taking this differences with US marker, would you recommand things differently ?

@@SurfskateLove I just watched your entire video, so would these cheap ones be the best in hydroponics? Here in my city it is on sale and on sale and costs about 100 Euros for hydroponic. Do you think it's worth it for initiation? A yow and carver is in the range of 299 Euros.

@@SurfskateLove Hello how are you? The store warned that the hydroponic was out of stock and they offered me a carver cx triton 32 for a small difference in value 30 euros, Do you think it's worth it? Would this carvber be better than hydroponic?
@Shaesi.2 жыл бұрын
@@philippeaquino4051 A Triton is very similar to a Carver CX but with a lower quality board. If you want a cheap surfskate with a bushing-based truck, a Triton should be a good option. Make sure to know which board size and wheelbase would work better for you before buying.
