Yea, i'm sick of Gaff being the fall guy when the other players can't hit the side of a barn to save their lives...... I just hope after this game, Kidd Lets Gaff play like this without yanking him to the bench every time he messes up a play which does nothing but gets Gaff in his head and frustrated... We all know, when Gaff gets his confidence going and starts dunking, he usually has a GREAT game which reflects on the team, LET GAFF COOK! Also, Gaff's here for Luka, not replace Lively, so when both of them are injured... Gaff's clearly under pressure to perform at an Elite level when he's a small center coming off the bench normally 😁

One thing I don’t really see people mention is that both of the Mavericks’ star players are point guards which can be a double edged sword. When Luka and Kyrie are healthy, the Mavs have one of the best offenses. When they’re both injured, it removes the superstars from their lineup but it also removes the point guards too which really hinders their ability to run an offense. The magic can survive stretches without Paolo and Franz because they aren’t point guards. The magic have starting caliber point guards on the roster so their offense can still function without their stars in the lineup.

Silver lining with these losses is that it's highlighting the team weaknesses. My 3 weak links are Hardy, Maxi, and Gafford. Those 3 guys have been disappointments, and the rest of the team aren't because they're doing the best they're capable of, but clearly aren't meant to win you games

@bakedizzle24 I think Gafford was bought in to finally replace Dwight Powell as backup center. Gafford has been disappointing. Even Dwight Powell is playing better than him this season. All Gafford needs to do is be a lob threat, grab rebounds, and protect the rim. Teams are taking the lob away, so I'd give Gafford leeway on that, but his rebounding and protecting the rim has not been good this season. And im saying this objectively, not to hate on Gafford because I don't want to go back to relying on Dwight Powell as backup center

Drafting a generational talent is kind of a flaw in the nba system. Its better to draft an ok all star type player so your team doesn't improve drastically and you can keep piling up first round talent. The mavs were immediately good because of luka but still had a tanking roster with no way to really get those high first round picks. They have to resort to piecing the team together through free agents and journeymen. Teams like okc that got Shai when he wasn't really that good were able to keep drafting top 10 talent. U can really see the difference in the caliber of athlete the mavs have on their bench and teams like Detroit or okc or any of these teams who has had multiple 1st round picks lots of seasons in a row

Reasons around the edges that you didn’t hit on is PJ is obviously playing injured right now and it’s hard to watch and even NM had an illness that led to him losing like 20 lbs and having to get back into playing shape. But aside from small memes the main issue starts with Luka unironically. You just spoke about JJJ playing every game out side of the first 2, well Luka is a player that we have to ask if he will even be able to be effective in double headers. He’s in the type of shape that a random 25 year old that works in manual labor is in but every game night he plays a position that is based around quick twitch muscles. There is no way he will ever not be injured at least 10- 15 games every season. It is a physical impossible. I get that everyone is afraid to speak on that though so I’ll focus on the trap everyone following the team falls into. Jason Kidd is an absolutely putrid coach operating at shameful levels but everyone sees an instance like Grimes sitting a game after getting no minutes or shots put back into the lineup to success and act like anything at all just happened. The coach just did nothing. There was no motivational or strategic value there at all there. It was a coach who didn’t believe in a player and then made a knee jerk decision but you all clap like sea animals imagining anything other than an idiot getting lucky. This follows into the way this team is currently covered. Kidd’s loser mentality has somehow infected people covering the team where after every game you have to say 50 times “but if Luka and Kyrie were’t hurt” instead of saying this is what the team should’ve done with the cards they were dealt. I really hope Kidd gives up on this team like he did two years ago and you all can see him for the worthless coach he actually is.

This situation is horrible but we gotta remember that this is a long season and the team is good. I’m upset that we aren’t at the top of the west where we belong but I know if this team gets right then we definitely still have a chance to succeed. Compare this situation to this time last year, the team was destroyed by injuries and there were far less encouraging signs that this team was good; the mavs ended up making the finals despite a far bleaker situation on the surface. It’s not the end of the world people, they can easily bounce back in the last third of the season IMO.

We knew this was going to be a tough stretch. The #1 issue is with all the injuries it’s forcing Kidd to have to be more schematical. That’s Kidd’s absolute worst flaw as a coach. His offense without Luka and Kyrie is still so much ISO heavy with zero action. Kidd’s coaching flaws are massively being exposed. 4 of the Mavs last 8 losses they blew a double digit lead. They’ve been in plenty of winnable games.
