Hum, I just so happen to be looking for a new solar/multiband watch to change things up from my white camo Casio ProTrek PRW-6000SC-7. Want to keep it classy and not hugely oversized. So I was thinking G-Shock this time around, but maybe a G-STEEL, like the GST-W130BC-1A3ER or GST-B100-1AER (not multiband but bluetooth instead). Always important to keep it up-to-date and synchronized (to atomic/internet time and) to different local times as I move around the globe as well. Have a couple of Casio Lineage Wave Ceptor series watches too. Shame hardly anyone else does it. Would love a smartwatch, but batterylife drives me insane! Hail tough solar!

Garmin's latest Fenix has a solar model. However the battery gains are laughable. I guess solar tech is not quite there for smartwatches

I want to get this watch but I'm a little skeptical about ordering it through Amazon as I'm not sure they will send me the BJF version - the one from the Japanese market. One reviewer on Amazon stated that he did not receive the BJF version and even showed photos of his watch.

great video ! could u pls tell me the length of its straps ? ( excluding buckle ) i got very small wrist its 5.75''inch , so even tho watch is small these straps are usually very long and extra strap sticking out when wearing is something i really hate. cheers !

Yup. I was worried that this display would be an issue. It's obviously not as legible as normal display but I never had any problem reading it. It's my everyday beater watch. I bought bull bars for it as well. You can't go wrong with it seriously.

Varun A The BB1, and I'm glad I did. The screen is easier to read and the numbers are beefier. Visually, it's sexier. I don't need the extra fluff either, so it was the best bang for my buck.

The BB1 looks sexier and I'm glad you confirmed it for me. By the way I don't need the extra fluff either. However, I do have one last question for you if you don't mind. Does the 2 year battery life bother you? I read somewhere that as you open the watch to install a new battery, some of the waterproof seal gets damaged. Not sure if that's the case. PS - to be honest I don't even swim so I don't know why I am getting worried about this. Haha!

Varun A This is my 2nd 5600 over the years. From my personal experience, the two year battery life goes well beyond two years. That's just a conservative figure by Casio. When it did go out, I would take mine to a professional jeweler and just let them do it. I think the last time they charged me ten bucks. Never had a water leak, and I'm a swimmer who wears my 5600 in the pool. I've heard of people getting 5 years plus out of theirs. Whether that's true for you or not, I would turn off hourly chime, alarm and use back light only when absolutely necessary if it's a concern for you (you can't turn off chime in maintenance or settings mode). I don't like the idea of always making sure my solar watch is always under a light source and fully charged. I know it's all in my head, but I was always looking at the charge bars constantly. I bought one a few years back and hated the dim display, so I sent it back. The backlight on the battery models are much brighter than the solar models, which I really like. Plus, you can have real time in the top corner when you're in stop watch mode, which is a big selling point for a lot of the standard 5600 model fans. I just feel like you get more watch for your money with the 5600 standard. I like how it's slightly chunkier than the atomic/solars, too. Also note that there's been talk of the atomic signal in Colorado being shut down permanently in the last few years. I don't think it will happen, but then again in this crazy world, you never know. Both are great watches, but The 5600-BB1 works better for me.
