Note to Historic Trash Lovers: A few have commented that there is a federal law prohibiting the removal of metal trash over 50 years old from public land. Please be assured that the junk I removed was not that old. There was a can of "JB 80" motorcycle lubricant in there complete with bar code. This was post 1980 junk, with lots of sharp edges and was a danger to those who frequent the area daily. Just lazy off-roader's trash! I do appreciate the concern, and would never remove genuine historical objects from any site. Thanks! SP

I totally agree with you. I pick up trash when I'm in outdoors but I had a Ranger that went through my trash bag and chastised me that I was in archaeological area and that it was better for me to leave trash in place and let the "professionals" decide what was garbage and what was an artifact.

We camped on desert land for many years and discovered remnants of old cattle and prospecting camps, each usually having a trash heap of tin cans such as those you are picking up. A ranger informed us that we could look the pile over but not remove anything. (Plastic and modern trash obvious exception to the rule).

Replaced gone with the wynns....just a guess lol
@toms68416 жыл бұрын
I stopped occasional viewing of the Wynns a couple of years ago after watching their video passing thru Canadian customs on their way to Alaska. In responding to a standard question by custom officials, they couldn't help but declare their political affiliation for not having certain equipment with them. That really turned me off personally and saw no reason to watch any more of their output; which has transitioned away from RV lifestyle.
@USA22835 жыл бұрын
I have 400 subscriptions and counting I don’t get recommended videos for all of them. KZbin algorithms show videos new and old of the channels I watch most often. Having a limited amount of subscriptions just sounds weird to me. KZbins recommended section really is setup nice, if you don’t watch a person for a while you won’t get their videos in your channel feed and if you watch different videos made by other channels more of their videos will be recommended.

Your situation in town without power was dealt with here on Vancouver Island this Christmas. My oldest daughter and I drove 2 hours to Nanaimo to pick up my youngest daughter from the ferry. She works in Vancouver and was coming home for Christmas. It was a very windy day, the 22nd of December. We got to Nanaimo with the plan to do some shopping prior to her ferry arriving. Low and behold, the big mall in Nanaimo was in the dark. Luckily they had lots of skylights! We found the Pier 1 across the road and Chapters were still under power, but just as we approached the til to pay, their power went out too!! Aah! Then, my daughter's ferry was cancelled due to the extreme winds. We ended up not being able to get any shopping done or pick up my daughter that day! I made another trip the next day and had great success. It amazes me though. Civilization comes to a stand still if the power goes out. It's actually pretty scary. Ever hear of an EMP? Can't imagine what the world will do!

Brought back memories of the 1960's. When I was a kid we had a power outage that lasted 4 days. I remember my family walking to the A&P that was candle/gas lantern-lit. They were handling the sales with a cash box as the electric register was not working. The prices were added up by the clerk on a paper pad. The deli in the same area had a crank handled register so the power didn't affect the sales, but the slicer was electric and the guy was cutting the meats and cheeses with a knife. Back then we did function without electricity when necessary.

Thanks for picking up that trash, SP! That's always been my motto (and my father's before me) - leave the area cleaner than you found it. Growing up, my family camped the lot in the Mojave Desert in an area called Kelso Valley. We always boondocked, usually in a shady area by an abandoned mine and a wash. Someone had tapped into an underground stream and put a pipe in the ground so we always had fresh water. One evening we pulled into the campsite and it was just a disaster - trash everywhere; they had lind up eggs and shot them and worse they shot up the pipe for spring water. My dad was so upset. First thing we did before even setting up our tent was to clean the area.

We have a couple of state parks that I frequent here in Ohio that don't have trash receptacles. One in particular has two shelter houses, but not a single trash can. When going there, I always make it a point to bring along a trash bag. I walk the park trail and see the sites, picking up trash along the way, before returning to the shelter houses and parking lot where I always fill my bag. It makes me sad that people are quite literally parked right near their car going to the shelter houses, and yet they can't be bothered packing out their own trash. Thanks for helping clean up out there. If you're anything like me, sometimes you feel like you're the only one. It's nice to see that I'm not.

You are an inspiring person and a true gentleman!! Removing “trash” is something we all have to do to keep our lives clean. And speaking of clean. If you use tape as a temporary solution inside your house. Try to use painters tape. Painters tape will not leave a sticky residue when removed like duct tape or other tape. That glue residue that other tape leaves behind collects dust then mold. Just trying to keep it clean!
