Yes, every time I hear it I think of times when I was travelling 'round and come across old abandoned towns reading the headstones in the cemeteries and you just drift off imagining how hard and sad it must have been for those early people. Slim captures it beautifully here doesn't he? Isn't you tube a great place for us all to come and share all these memories and music. Let's hope the greedy blighters don't get their hands on it and spoil it. Thank You. Merry Christmas.

I was born and raised in Wauchope NSW.. just a few klms South of Kempsey..were Slim and Amos hailed from... Later on, I lived Kempsey for a number of years.. During that time, I became great friends with Slim's old mate, Shorty Ranger. Sadly, Slim and Shorty have now passed on. In 1993, I created the cover art for Slim's Anniversary Album No2.. Great memories of great people.

This is one of Roy Wheeler's songs. I know Roy wrote the poem but Slim may have set it to music. Beautiful words and Slim does it so well.

I actually stopped at this spot a few days ago. A rather lonely little spot a few kilometres west of Miles. Those early people did it SO hard. We have no idea these days. RIP Clara

At some point someone decided to use the word "artist" to describe any musician, which is incorrect. Anything with singing or instruments is music. Art is something that expands, broadens, and deepens the human soul. This is a work of art.

Well sung by Slim, and the lyrics, by Roy Wheeler are right up there with Banjo Paterson's "Man from Snowy River" !!!
