I found a substance like this on my bricks. It has a brown and reddish look. Almost like insulation

This grew in my new raised vegetable bed, amongst my lettuce, spinach, bok choy, chives, onions, patty pan squash, princess pumpkins, straight eights and Armenian cucumbers, on a cold night, under a soft fleece cover. Do I have to throw away everything, spray antifungal, like propiconazole, and then start over? Will it be safe to eat any of it?

It's harmless.

What I found on my compost is orange with some light spots, thick, and hard. Is this harmless fungi, or mold?
@VanZeelandNurseryLandscape4 жыл бұрын
If it is only growing in your compost, I wouldn't be concerned

Does this happen in all mulch or did I buy the wrong kind? Does it happen when it rains more than normal?
@dlindens5 жыл бұрын
This can happen in various mulches - so it does not indicate that you purchased the wrong mulch or that you have a low quality mulch. In general, fungi prefer wet/moist conditions - so extra rain my exacerbate the slime mold.

Not a good idea as per the video but it’s really cool to water the mold when it’s able to release the spores. It’s like an eighth grade chemistry project gone awry🤣 sending huge plumes of ‘volcanic’ ash into the atmosphere! And your neighbors yard🤭

If I found one, I would keep it as a pet. It's the world's largest single cell organism, and it's actually quite intelligent. Did you know that a slime mold can problem solve and find the fastest way through a maze? Most 2 year olds can't do that!

I found one 😅 it came on my avocado seed but it died before I could make it a real home 😅 now I ordered them dried out 😅

Is there a way to kill it naturally. ?.
@VanZeelandNurseryLandscape7 жыл бұрын
since it is so simple, the easiest and most natural way to rid yourself of it is to pick it up and throw it away

Huh? What's it for? What good is it? What harm can it do?
@dlindens4 жыл бұрын
It is something to be aware of that can grow out of your mulch. It isn't harmful to people (we've been told that it is actually edible). If you don't like it aesthetically, it can be removed - but it should decay naturally over time without causing any harm.
