I actually really liked the blue border on the flowers and leaves. It gave it some added dimension and made them stand out more for some reason. You had me laughing so hard during your story. I could just picture it . I absolutely despise June bugs. I think they need a calendar because, here in Texas, they can come out as early as March or April depending on how warm it is. Your story reminded me of a time when my husband was trying to remove a birds nest from the light over our garage. The swallows would build their nest on the light and short it out. We made sure there were no eggs or babies before he took it down. There were two birds that flew onto opposite sides of the roof of the house across the street and would take turns dive bombing my husband while he was on the ladder. After every try, they would fly back and do it again. So here I am, standing out there with a broom, swinging it at the birds as they came after him. I wasn't trying to hurt them, just keep them from making him fall off the ladder. In the middle of this, all I could think of was how it looked to the neighbors, because I'm sure we looked absolutely ridiculous.

Love your card, Kelly - and of course, your beautiful coloring, which I love to watch. June bugs are pretty much everywhere, maybe? Here in Maryland we had a beatle in the yard that was 4" wide x 5" long - definitely NOT a June bug (and if that thing had landed near me, I would still be screaming)! Having said that, I do admit that some beatles can be quite colorful & therefore pretty - in their own way!

Beautiful card! I love the bright yellow against the blue. When we were young, we would catch June bugs and tie a string to a back leg and let them go. They would fly like crazy. We have grape vines and those beetles will eat every leaf on them if you don't keep watch. This was a fun video!

When I was a kid, if one of my family members told about getting hurt or something, I'd almost invariably laugh. Not if s/he was badly hurt, of course; but for some reason I just found some antics funny, even if they resulted in mild pain. I would laugh at myself too, of course, although (wisely, I suppose) never at non-family members. Because of this trait, Daddy would call me "Laugh at Disaster Andrea." LOL I don't seem to do that anymore, for whatever reason. Probably just as well. I found your beetle instruction fascinating. Some of the stuff, like the 4 wings, I knew, but had forgotten or at least never verbalized to where it stuck in my mind. I also tend to want to know all the things, and question/research a lot of stuff that I read or hear people say. Especially things Mama relates to me, that she reads on Facebook or wherever. One of my favorite phrases (with her at least) has become, "Cite your source." :) Of course, I drive her nuts if she doesn't know the source/answer. She keeps telling me I should have been a lawyer. I tell her I never would have gotten through the educational requirements, since I developed schizophrenia in my early/mid 20s, and never even got to finish my bachelor's degree, much less anything more advanced. At any rate.... I really love your card. I was curious at first if you could do partial die cutting on the cover plate & stretch it out that way. But the more I think about that, I don't think that would be very easy. Glad you made it work, anyway--it looks awesome! I used to love to grow hibiscus, and that color combo you did was always my favorite, just because of the 2 different hues in the flower. Anyway, thank you for sharing, & for the giggles. Hope y'all are doing well. Take care, & have a wonderful day! :)

I went a little crazy with this release! Don’t know if it’s because my summer is a little lackluster or what. I overreact over stuff like bugs, and I really don’t like June bugs. One of my most embarrassing reactions was the year we had a gray squirrel living in our garden shed. I knew it was in there but every single time I opened the door and heard it skitter away across the ceiling beams and out through a hole, I shrieked. Then I’d have to stand there while my neighbor laughed. 😆. The card is beautiful!

When I was a kid, my family would go camping in the Sierra mountains. One summer there were so many bugs that kept flying into the side of the tent at night. They were noisy and, like you said, appeared to be drunk. After a couple of nights of this, we finally asked the ranger what kind of bugs they were and, you got it, June bugs. I should mention my dad called me June Bug. I never heard the end of it. Lol

Love love love love the hibiscus flowers! That card is really pretty as always. When you were talking about it I wondered if it was a June bug. I didn't realize that covered a lot of different types of bug, the ones we have here are sticky. So if they land on you you can't just brush them lightly to get them off of you, they have staying power! Speaking of absurd reactions. Many years ago a girlfriend of mine was visiting and we were up late. I saw one of those water bugs, would roaches or whatever you call them. We both screamed then one of us would scream that would set the other one off screaming then we realize we're being ridiculous bust out laughing. Then one of us would scream setting off the other one screaming bust into laughter rinse repeat a bunch of times. Then we realized it was 3 a.m. and the windows were all open. I was waiting for neighbors to call the police to say get over there someone is killing two women!!

Hate June bugs too....they dive bomb you at night if they are flying around your porch light. I think it’s on purpose even after hearing your research. Lol. Around here, when the June bugs are out, it’s time to treat the grass for grub worms. Female June bugs lay eggs in the grass and the larvae (grubs) feed on the roots. Love Love the Copic coloring and the final card.

Pretty card Kelly. I love hibiscus🌺, they're some of my fave tropical flowers. A treat for me I would get whether I was in a brick and mortar Starbucks or stopped at the kiosk in the market was the very berry hibiscus refresher drink, so tasty. I remember a couple years ago, I'd just gotten off of work and was on the bus stop across the street from my old job waiting for the bus and all of a sudden, the long lost Southern California cousin of the beetle you had in your garage started flying around the trash can that was sitting by the 🚌 stop and flew right in front of my face , luckily , I was able to walk 30 ft to the other stop that was June bug free

Our AC broke down for the last week. My uncle is AC guy. He came to fix it Friday night. I was outside with him helping. Those same stupid two inch size June bugs keep flying all around me and landing on me. Several times I had to knock it off of me. As I went in the house there it was on my shoulder again. Yuck! I get it off. Go in the house. Am cutting up some watermelon for my uncle to cool off with. Maybe it has now been 15 min or more. And my teenage son comes by and informs me he just knocked one of the two Inch suckers off of my back and killed it! Ahhh! Yuck. I had another one on me for like 15-20 minutes. And I bought it In with me and had no clue! Ughh yuck. Thank god he seen it. I was just getting grossed out thinking I would of taken it up to my room with me.
