Just unboxed my first T and realised just how small this little thing was, and that whilst I knew what I was doing with an adult, I still had questions about slings. This video answered all of them (how to water, getting fruit flies into a small container). Cheers, guy!

Great tip for the fruit flies. We were using cricket legs for ours, but will get some fruit flies to try. Do the slings easily catch the flies? Also didn't realise they would eat springtails. Do the springtails just stay alive if not eaten and are the fine to be left in there? We seem to have a varying size of slings, some will eat small live crickets, and some prefer them dead. How long do fruit flies last for as only have a few that would require them?

Flies last up to week the culture can last 3-4 weeks sometimes longer, it’s a natural feeding response with live fruit flies so they get caught it’s cool to watch a tiny sling take a fruit fly down.

Love the enthusiasm of your videos. Always nice to see people bursting with happiness for their hobby. Only have 2 slings in sling pots at the moment, both D. pentaloris. I then have the rest in the small 180ml round tamperproof tubs. I just find keeping the substrate in the right way easier in those tubs. Can’t wait til part 2 👍🏼 Laughed when you avoided feeding the OBT as “you know what will happen” 😂😂

Oh also - fruit flies. I found 5 minutes in the fridge, pretty much slows them so they can be tipped into tubs and pots without being too mobile works well.

Only have 2 atm lol that number will increase lol, a few people said the fridge for 5 or 10mins, the reasons I don’t is because there not cold in the wild and the flies movement is more dramatic while warm and could cause the spider to more readily take the fly

@@ScottsInverts yep i agree. what ive found though is when i use the fridge - they slow the flies for a couple of minutes then they are back to normal speed, so it just gives me a chance to move them from pot to pot before they go manic :)

Scott !! I’m in a bit of trouble !! Help I just got a 2 & 1/2 in female golden blue leg baboon with a sling of the same species. I really don’t want to do fruit flies for just one sling. It’s really small. Will it scavenger feed parts of a dead cricket ?? Or do I have to do fruit flies. I’ve never took care of a sling. I’m guessing it’s like a OBT sling ?? Thank You Candy I’d like to try to do it, but I could give it away.

They will scavenge, you could also try freshly hatched redrunners, or tiny maggots

I'm new to ts how moist for substrate? My last t died as too wet I think. Also is a 10cm high pot ok for 2cm arboreal like amazon sapphire?

That pot is fine and it depends on where the sp of spider is from, for eg. If a spider is from a part of africa that it dry all year then we need to reflect that with our care, but If it's from a rain forest it will be much damper. Slings damp not wet tbf

Today i revieved my first tarantulas trinidad chevron and brazilian blue the trinidad is 6cm which shocked me at first he tried to escape bruhh and the blue is 1cm so tiny i was so scared to even water it

for fruit flies i have a disposable plastic pint drinks cup with the top lined with ptfe insect slip stuff. they cant climb out then.
