My main snare... people come up after every show and ask. It’s a cannon with subs. Cool demo.

Love my '48 RK kit. Snare is 5.5 depth. 24 inch bass drum in BR's last kit configuration. My snare sounds very similar to a Dynasonic. Amazing sound from a 74 YO drumset!

Wow I'm surprised how much I liked the Very High Wide Open, usually that's not really my thing but it's my favourite by far. Sounds amazing

@seansteel34994 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean, I never use them but recently for whatever reason I tried it again and I must have done it right, I learned that you only get it to make the very slightest contact, it hardly needs any pressure at all. Anyway that's a GREAT snare you have there and congrats on the excellent playing. God bless.

That's a beauty, Blair! You'd mentioned Mick Fleetwood's snare drum. I believe I've read or seen him using a 6.5" Supraphonic in the 70's which makes sense for the sound....Although in the studio different drums could have been available. This RK could certainly do the trick too! :D
@BlairSinta4 жыл бұрын
True Ryan. Just to be clear, I'm not suggesting he was using a Radioking...just talking specifically about the sound...whatever the drum.

I think super dead muffled and low is very rad, got that 80's kinda lofi tone.. I think deep snares excel at this! also, tell me more about this kick drum.. what a tone, sir!

It's a deeper drum. Let the beauty of the shell sing. Take that ring off. You're killing one of the best snare drums ever made.

That high tuning without the damping pad is unbelievable. I have two 51/2" radio kings. Have you tried using the drums own internal dampener?

Yes...but it also changes the pitch a bit. It works fine but not my favorite choice.

Love that sound(s). I actually just bought one today, 14x7 1950's. I've been watching this video over and over until she gets here to calm my nerves. It doesn't really seem to be made for high tuned rimshots, the snares seem to come off a little in the video. Is that common? Great playing!

Great drumming but if the Slingerland Radio King is so great why do you even need to consider playing it with an external dampener? I don't understand the logic of paying thousands for a vintage drum that needs a piece of relatively cheap plastic to make it sound "better"

I doubt the drumming greats of the past who used these, would have used muffling. Highest tuning with NO muffling is brilliant…you won’t get much better..
