Here in Singapore these are very common and where there's nature there's a decent chance you will spot one of these (nature reserves, certain parks, army camps, big canals). Never fails to fascinate me though. These creatures love going to the same haunts over and over again- 5 years ago back when I was still in high school there was this one that kept coming back to the same few square meters near the school pond over and over again until it was eventually removed from the premises.. I even fed it time to time and it never attacked back.

That is a beautiful monitor. I am very fond of them but simply do not have the amount of space that I find acceptable for these large lizards. I like your enclosure and I can not wait to see it when it is fully 'scaped!

I live on the chao praya in Bangkok, (right in city centre) and these guys swim up to the docks all the time, at my condo. there so cool to watch. move so well in the water.

I was thinking about getting either a Savannah monitor a water monitor or tegu, I live in MI so he would be in a 125g in the winter until about 2-2.5ft in length then a custom 8x4x4 after in the winter and in a 10x5x6 that's already build in the summer. What do you think would be the best choice for me IYO kenan

what are your thoughts on Farm bred animals such as Mangrove monitors I'm really interested in buying a mangrove monitor from underground reptiles but it says they are Farm bred would you trust it?

farm bred is the same thing as captive bred i think

+BBR Captive breed: eveything is done in captivity Captive farmed: breeding and laying is done out of captivity then egg incubaition and hatching is done in captivity aswell as raising the hatchlings captive breeds are usally a bit easier to tame I think

Water monitors are known to be one of the easiest monitors to tame, but since yours is wild caught it will take some time but if you'll be patient and spend time with it you should be good. I have a water monitor, i think he's wild caught as well and he is crazy like i don't know what but, he's getting better little by little.

he was a wild caught and would never eat without being force fed. Once he got to big for me to get him to bite so i could get food in his mouth the vet said it was best to put him down.
