This is one of the most iconic runs in a flatland contest. Kevin debuts the hitch-hiker here but little did we know he already learned backwards hitch-hiker (backpacker) also and busts that out in his run. Everyone was losing their minds. One of the greatest things I ever saw back in those days!

Once that back wheel was back down, and his foot was back in the top tube, flatland changed forever.

This the moment when Flatland BMXs balls dropped! Minds were blown and imaginations were fired. To say this was a paradigm shift in what was possible on a bike is an understatement.

While most riders were playing checkers, KJ was playing chess.

I can't remember---did Kevin also ride for Skyway in the 80s? I know I saw him but it was before this. He was a nice guy!

+JWPrimetime Kevin got his start with Skyway. His first official show with them was at Charlie's Bike Shop (No longer exists) in Levittown, PA. That show is also on the my KZbin page.

+OldSchoolBMX TV oh right on man I'm gonna have to check it out--I'm sure I watched it but just forgot. I live in Saint Petersburg Fl and the skyway show was the first BMX clinic I ever went to. Maybe like 86? Watching this clip here made me realize Kevin could have gone up against McCoy and held his own but I don't remember them ever competing against each other. I absolutely love your channel and your wealth of knowledge!

+JWPrimetime Thanks... I worked at Charlie's Bike Shop as a kid, got to meet / hang with alot of the Teams. There's those certain risers that simply changed the sport (Bob Haro, RL, Dennis McCoy, Kevin Jones, Eddie Fiola, Mike Dominguez). If you are on Instagram, look up: scott_sliwinski
