#patmetheny #jazz #guitar ‬ Recently, as I have been rotating my arrangements between classic jazz standards and pop tunes, I have neglected another source of music I like to draw from (if to a lesser extent), contemporary jazz and especially contemporary jazz guitarists. Here is a beautiful tune by Pat Metheny from the record "Letter From Home" which I had from day one. The idea to arrange this tune for solo guitar never occurred to me until a few weeks ago when I just noodled around on the guitar and a couple of the chords I played just all of a sudden reminded me of this tune. Always glad to hear you add another Metheny number to your list ... though this beginner will have to be content to be an 'educated consumer' of this one for now. Amazed at how you make it all look so easy. But your 'noodling around' is like Picasso drawing on a dinner table napkin - most of us don't see the tens of thousands of hours you put into developing your skills from the beginning. Thanks very much for the kind words! The secret for preserving the original is simple - when I play I imagine that I'm in the PM band (or whatever artist) and we are playing the original together. I don't hear myself as playing a solo guitar arrangement, I imagine that I am actually the band. By the time It comes out of my guitar, it sounds nothing like the band yet something was preserved,
