I'm very happy someone else finally gets what he's talking about in this song. He's just talking about being obsessed with the perfect person that doesn't exist, and coming to terms with that. No one in their life will ever find a perfect partner and we have to accept that.
@ArkaeaFCL34 жыл бұрын
When I first heard this song, I was in a relationship that was doomed to fail. But, I was so much in love with my view of her that I didn't see the reality of the situation. Ended up getting cheated on and realizing I was blind and stupid. This song is so accurate to that whole fucked up relationship.
@despa77264 жыл бұрын
The story is about a murderer, who kills a woman, but she's different for some reason. He can't pinpoint why, but he falls in love with the dead body. He desperately needs to bring her back to life, so he tries to deny that she's dead. This is a metaphor for loving someone who can't be helped. You can't keep loving them forever, the relationship will eventually end, but you can still live in denial about it as long as you want. It isn't one sided, there is just no connection. You obviously have more options... or victims, you are a serial murderer, of course, but you stay with this dead waste because you love her. You have to let her go, just like the murderer has to move on and kill other people, and even if that isn't the best hobby, it's a life, just like yours is. That is my takeaway from this song.

"She's so lonely." The world is passing her by; she's in it but not a part of it. We see the clock spinning quickly in different parts of the video and time going by so fast, and she seems perpetually out of sync with time. She does not move fluidly in the video; she does not move fluidly with time. They use stop-motion video very creatively in this video, and the impression that it gives me is this -- It is as if she exists then ceases to exist, then exists then ceases to exist, all in a very rapid sequence. She can see the world all around her but she cannot interact with it. "Nobody sees her." Exactly. "Or maybe she's not exist." Yes, I think we are seeing the exact same thing here, it's as if she is a ghost in the world, she can see them but they can't see her. I've had actual nightmares similar to that, and it is a true nightmare. Oh, wow. Then the butterfly lands and she is actually able to hold it. The concept of a butterfly holds a very special significance to me, so that is a very powerful ending for me in particular. I love it. 8:55 -- If you want to experience pain and disappointment, paint a picture and then try to place someone into that picture as you think they should fit; or try to mold yourself into someone else's picture frame. That is a surefire way to end with a broken relationship and broken picture frames. The second video represents to me, someone who is being tossed around in the air like a rag doll; she is completely limp and seems powerless to control where she goes. Even when she is up against the backdrop of a beautiful sun, she seems limp and lifeless. Both videos make me feel loss; a loss of connection with the world, and then a loss of control within the world. Sometimes videos have themes that are different than the actual lyrics of the song, and the actual lyrics mention "the unrequited dream," and it does seem that there is an overarching theme to the songs about wanting someone in your life desperately that seems unattainable, while acknowledging that it is negative parts of yourself that may be driving them away. You also raised some very interesting alternative theories in your analysis at the end of the video, however, so now I'm also intrigued by those!

I recently got into Slipknot after seeing your reaction to Psychosocial. Before that I never gave them a chance, thinking they were some subpar Nu-Metal band. They really aren't though. The technique for shooting the video is called stop-motion. It's normally used to make cartoony characters appear as if they're moving by taking tons of pictures where they move slightly in each frame but here the background also moves unlike cartoons so it gets more vivid.

I always took these as a stalker who’s planning on kidnapping his target of his affection and is arguing with himself about going through with it. He’s put her on a pedestal, but knows his idea of her is utopian and not reality. He’s in love with his idea of her. The more rational voice is essentially talking himself down so he won’t do it. “I won’t let this build up inside of me”

I love Slipknot! Corey Taylor is one of the best vocalists in metal. He can sing in about 3 or 4 different styles and sounds great in all of them. He reminds me of Phil Anselmo in that way. That's probably why Slipknot is in my top 5 bands ever, with Pantera being my favorite. As for the reaction video, you did great as always. I love the way you let the video play over you there. It looked amazing. The mark of a great song is that it catches you on the inside like you describe here. The best lyricists can take the common human emotions and put them in words and tones that we can all identify with. You're pretty much seeing things exactly the way I do here. Thank you for doing these videos for us.

Wow, I’m actually thought that I’m the only one who thought that he has something in common with Phil, but I always kept it in a secret because some ppl could complain)). ☮️
@johnmuse66264 жыл бұрын
It's your channel, you should always say whatever you want! You're the queen here. People commenting shouldn't affect your truth! Listen to Floods, Hollow, Suicide Note pt 1 and 2, This Love, Domination etc and see the true range of Phil. Corey has vermillion pt 1, Snuff, People = Shit, etc that are similar to the different vocalizations Phil can pull off. I love Ozzy, but he always sounds like Ozzy. Not a bad thing, quite wonderful actually. But I was always amazed with how Phil and Corey can roll through several metal styles, sometimes on the same song.

Honestly I know this isn’t the point of the reaction but it seems like in all of your videos you’re able to hear a melody and come up with a contrasting harmony, usually rather quickly. I don’t know how much you know about music and music theory but it kinda amazes me that someone can hear a harmony, in key, right off the cusp of hearing a melody that fast. It’s rather remarkable

Wow Thank you, Dillan! ☮️ I didn’t think that it’s “special” or hard because it’s kind of natural for me personally, even tho I don’t have music degree and have no idea how to read notes or key.. hope it’s not sounds arrogantly, I can’t do it with every single song tho.. 🧞♂️🧞♂️🧞♂️

hi. you haven't reacted to David Gilmour, for a while. you wanted to know if he ever sang without his guitar. well, in the live Pompeii [2016] concert, he sings 'A Boat Lies Waiting', a song about the loss and love of his best friend, Richard Wright. it starts with the most tearfully beautiful steel guitar solo, then he gets up and sings the song without the guitar. you will be in tears. other songs from that concert that you should check out are, In Any Tongue, Sorrow [his best version imo] and Faces of Stone. i do love your intelligent reactions. you react to the way the music makes you feel. keep up the good work

My interpretation of the song, this whole album was written in the Houdini mansion, which is quite haunted. Corey, the singer, said he saw the ghost of a woman when he was in the shower if I remember correctly. This song to me feels like falling in love with a ghost. Hence the line "she isn't real". All I need to make her real is 1 more reason sounds to me like suicide, the only way to really be with a ghost
