Slipknot announced their first new song since they revealed their new drummer Eloy Casagrande. Slipknot is set to release new music, though a release date is unclear.

"Casagrande" = slave owner's residence in a plantation, in Portuguese. I guess that's similar in Spanish, hence the name of the city. P.S.: the literal transltation of "casa grande" would be "big house". However, these 2 words put together usually refers to the above.

I could not agree more. Eloy's arrival has turned the negative murmurs into VERY loud applause. I'll even go one further... I think Eloy, along with this whole retro vibe they're going with right now is even bringing back fans that have fallen away for much longer than just recently. Personally, their first two albums, Slipknot and Iowa, have ALWAYS been my two favorite albums. I thought The subliminal verses was good... but after that one, and after they started getting more into doing the more stone sour style sounding songs here and there, I just kinda lost interest. I never like hated them, or never even got to where I didn't "like" them... It just wasn't the same to me anymore, and the more guys they lost... and the more the look changed, the less interesting they were to me. But, Just the fact of the rumors going around that Eloy may be coming on... I started getting interested. I remember watching his Slipknot drum cover videos and being blown away... the first time I commented on one it was like "Why the hell is this guy not in Slipknot?" Fast forward a while and here we are. After seeing videos of the 3 shows they've done with him (that I know of), and with not only the classic look (Kinda) being back.. and then the FEROCITY of how they're playing being back similar to how it was in the earlier days. It's just got me so stoked about Slipknot again. I'll be getting out to see them as soon as they're close enough.

0:49 Eloy is a brilliant drummer, that makes me more worried about how he will be treated if he should get replaced down the line. Slipknot doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to how they’ve treated Joey and later Jay. They didn’t deserve it and Eloy sure as hell doesn’t deserve it. However, just by watching them play live it’s clear they’re all stoked about their new lineup, which gives me hope for the future. The End so Far was such a disappointment to me that I more or less gave up on any future music, but now I feel hopeful again! 🤘🏻🇸🇪🤘🏻

One thing people sometines ignore is how Eloy brought a lot of new fans to Sepultura and will do the same for Slipknot. I have a friend who works in the industry and we both are more classic rock oriented. Slipknot are not our thing, but with Eloy, we are happy to wait for new songs with him. He is a beast. Totally next level and we are proud of him here in Brazil.

It’s pretty obvious that not everybody can agree which slipknot is better, old or new. Heavy or experimental. This makes sense, it’s all very subjective. But there’s one perspective I feel like people should be able to understand and agree on objectively: slipknot has been at it for a while and has so much experience in song writing and multiple genres. I do feel it would be fun for a “return to form” so to speak, but also, they’re so much more mature now than when they were back when they were making music like that. Mature in age, song writing ability, musicianship, and general knowledge of the industry and genre tropes. I could see them doing a song like that for fun, for the OG fans as a call back. But I think people begging for them to revert their sound back to their early years is doing them a disservice and honestly a little disrespectful. I love how they’ve grown and experimented and shown that in their music with such professionalism. Anything that doesn’t evolve or change dies, and they’ve embraced that and made strides in how they do music. I’m stoked to see more of what they can do and how they can change and define not only who they are, but the genres they influence so heavily. People also seem to forget that their new stuff also has A LOT of heavy parts, it’s just incorporated more dynamically now. Either way, this new drummer sounds legit and I’m pumped to see what they got next! Legends!
