The drumming is the stand-out element in this song, and arguably, in the band. Raw, visceral energy.
@m_alcoves5 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, everything about this track is perfect. The lyrics, the marching snare, the energy, that mixing with such heaviness, a lot of instruments and samples sounding together. The Subliminal Verses times were like a well constructed chaos.

Vol. 3 is my favorite album from Slipknot. It was the album that got me into these guys. This album doesn't get enough credit. Their self-titled and Iowa were phenomenal, but this is really where they start to come into their own, in my opinion. It is much more polished, refined, and yet brutal. Three Nil and Pulse of the Maggots are epic.
@byrondouglasdean2 жыл бұрын
My first exposure to Slipknot was borrowing the Iowa album from a friend in high school. Needless to say, the album hit me like a sledgehammer and I didn't quite take to them immediately. Fast forward a few years, the local classic rock radio DJ at KLBJ in Austin took a fairly big personal risk and played this song over the radio. It was near impossible for me to not start banging my head during the drum break down. So big thanks to the DJ for playing this song, because it was the official song that won me over. Fantastic album as well.

I know that's an overused and mundane way to describe astonishment, but that's the only way I can describe it. I don't know, it just gave me a great sensation of revelation. 1:52 felt like an answer to big question, followed by the drums at 2:13 as bold ellipses ending the statement louder one after the other.

[Intro] One, two, three! Drop it! [Verse 1] Bones in the water and dust in my lungs Absorbing archaic like a sponge The ultimate way is the way you control But can you stay if you detach your soul? Bury the present and squeeze out the past The ones you endear to never last Chemical burns and the animalistic I'm just another hard line pseudo-statistic [Chorus] Can you feel this? (Can you feel this?) I'm dying to feel this! (Dying to feel this) Can you feel this? (Can you feel this?) [Verse 2] Blood on the paper and skin on my teeth Trying to commit to what's beneath To find the time is to lose the momentum You learn the lessons and immediately forget them Automatic and out of my reach Consult all the waste to find the key Minimal life and the polysyllabic I'm just another blank page, push the button, pull the rage [Chorus] Can you feel this? (Can you feel this?) I'm dying to feel this! (Dying to feel this) Can you feel this? (Can you feel this?) [Post-Chorus] I am all, but what am I? Another number that isn't equal to any of you I control, but I comply Pick me apart then pick up the pieces I'm uneven! [Bridge] I am the damaged one! All my life and the damage done! I am the damaged one! All my life and the damage done! I am the damaged one! All my life and the damage done! I am the damaged one! All my life and the damage done! [Chorus] Can you feel this? (Can you feel this?) I'm dying to feel this! (Dying to feel this) Can you feel this? (Can you feel this?) I'm dying to feel this! (Dying to feel this) Can you feel this? (Can you feel this?) I'm dying to feel this! (Dying to feel this) Can you feel this? (Can you feel this?) [Post-Chorus] I am all, but what am I? Another number that isn't equal to any of you I control, but I comply Pick me apart then pick up the pieces I'm uneven! I am all, but what am I? Another number that isn't equal to any of you I control, but I comply Pick me apart then pick up the pieces I'm uneven! [Outro] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...
