The only way to 100% verify if you play song correctly is only meeting the guitarist at studio 5 minutes after he did the final recording. It's been many years since they recorded the song - and of course everybody is a human, so there is a big chance the musician will forget how he played the song exactly.

Got a guitar mid 2022, I really wanted to play this song, but of course, kinda impossible for a day 1 💀 just discovered through this video at the time that rhere's different tunnings for a guitar... well, after more than a year and a half, this song came back to my mind and now i'm able to play it very decently, thanks for the video. Just wanted to say, this song still sounds sick in drop C, my guitar sounds ass if I down tune to A.

As always you’re welcome my friend. So, I’m going to see slipknot for the 3rd time this October 23 right above Atlanta Ga. I broke down and spent the big bucks on a ticket package called the Nero forte experience that secures a pre show “meet and greet” with them. When I meet Jim, I plan to try and direct his attention to your channel. Not saying it will go the way I plan, but that’s a part of my goal when I do meet him. You deserve his attention, and I hope like hell I can pull it off for you. I love, appreciate and respect this channel very much.

Thanks so much for the compliment! To be honest, I cover Jim's parts as much as possible and my lesson and cover for that were for Jim's parts. If you mean Mick's octave parts in the beginning, I think him and Paul play the same notes and they're just outlining the chords they use in the chorus. I might be able to do a mini lesson on that on my Instagram or something.

@BlackacreDoe Dude thanks for the lesson! What guitar and amp are you using? Also, will this set of strings that you're using work on a guitar with a 25.5 inch scale? Such as a Jackson JS 12 Dinky? One of these days I'll pick up a 7 string. I use to have an ESP LTD M-17, and I wasn't too fond of it. The pickups on that guitar were great. But I prefer the Jackson JS 22-7 with a 26.5 inch scale. I just want to know if the set of strings, the Ernie Ball Not even slinky strings, .12-.56, will work well with a Jackson JS 12 Dinky guitar with a 25.5 inch scale. Let me know what you'd recommend string wise, on a guitar with a 25.5 inch scale. My guess is that you're using a line 6 amp. Definitely will learn this song on guitar.
@BlackacreDoe
@BlackacreDoe 7 ай бұрын
The guitar is an LTD JH600, it’s 25.5” scale so yes the strings are fine for that. This is an old video, I don’t remember what amp it was but just some crappy practice amp that was laying around

I appreciate the kind words on the lesson and yes, I’ve been told I use light strings. I think everyone’s gear should be catered to their preferences and playing style, so what works for me certainly won’t work for everyone. As long as everyone’s shredding that’s all that matters 🤘🏻

@BlackacreDoe
@BlackacreDoe Жыл бұрын
Actually after looking into this more...it looks like this is a case of them changing how they play it over the years. If you take a look at this video at 17:00 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2bNq4uqos-ghZY) Jim plays it the same way I'm teaching it and played it in my cover. But you're right, at Resurrection Fest and recent performances, they play it 4-3 on the low 2 strings and not 3-2. I think the album version and early performances are 3-2 though.

I got it on Slipknot's website, they sold them for the 15 year anniversary for Iowa back in 2016. Since they tune to Drop B and Drop A primarily, in my opinion using heavier strings is pretty important to maintain a clear attack for tone. It varies player to player but I use the 12-56 for Drop A and 11-52 for Drop B. Some would probably consider that light, but it's what works for me since I normally use 10-46 in E Standard through D Standard/Drop C.
