i never really noticed this song before but thanks to tiktok i got to revisit it and it just melts my heart. i was "adopted" by an aunt who had been there since i was born after my mom passed away when i was 15. my aunt's family had also "adopted" my mom and was sort of like my second mom since my mom was always working. my aunt never had any children and always saw me and my brothers as her own kids. after my mom died she fully took over as our parent, even after a lot of bad things happened. she was so different from my mom, she was caring and open and always wanted the best for me. she was strict but not enough to not let me explore and learn on my own. a year in, she was diagnosed with cancer but she never stopped smiling. she taught me of everything great and bad in this world. she told me of all the places she would show me that I've never been to, once she got better. she eventually completed chemo and once she had money, she sent me to college and made sure i had everything i wanted and more. all my friends loved her and she was so hands on with my college experience. a year after my freshman year she passed away suddenly and I've been alone ever since. This song somewhat makes me think that she is singing this to me in the short but beautiful time together. Every minute with her made me who I am today and I wish she could see how much I've grown since then. Im typing this with tears running imagining how much she loved me, even if I weren't her real child. Its been 5 years but and I've never stopped missing her since. What a beautiful song that will always bring me back to the time I had with her
