Biggest Cod of the Season | Beach Fishing for Cod in the Rain | Shore Fishing UK

Back out shore fishing for cod from the beach in Northumberland. The start of a low pressure front moving through should hopefully bring the fish a bit closer in shore but also wind a rain. It was a pretty damp night and it took a while to find the fish but turned out to be worhtin it in the end.

You can change the batteries and putting Sellotape around the end helps to keep the rain out.

As a carpfisher i can only say respect dude, you need to be pretty hardcore if you wanna stand on the beach in the F rain. Very nice cod!

Thanks Tommy, I don't mind the rain, as long as I've got some decent kit on, but every now and again I get a bit envious of the guys down south being able to fish with bivi's. No storm beaches up here so no chance of using one.

Really enjoyed watching this year, covid made me go fishing in 2020, in 2021 its become a hobby and an obsession ;) really like to watch someone in a place where the conditions are similar to where i go fishing myself, even though it gets cold a bit earlier here... gothenburg archipelago in west sweden... tight lines and good hopes for 2022! Here the season for cod is closed newyear until april 1st, so very little fishing for me sadly... might squeeze in one more trip before new years :)

It's good that covid has brought so many people to fishing, it's a similar story over here with loads of people taking it up and then getting hooked! I haven't been fishing the bait rod's lately and always used mono...I'm a bit rusty 🤣 what brand of braid would you suggest for a multiplier

I've had braid on my multi's for about 12 years now and the SLOSH handles it quite well but I've got to have the small breaks in it. I've also got an old Daiwa Saltist 30 (silver one) which handles the braid slightly better than the slosh. The braid has to be of good quality and a tight weave else else it just digs in. U can buy battery's for ur tip lights from the £1 shop just look at the size of battery's it take the tiplights

@@SlippyLimpets Problem with cod is they like the deeper waters in winter and SE is pretty shallow so you need to be able to cast 150m+ 🤷‍♂️ to have any chance. There's an absolute plague of whiting this year but yes, still a good chance of the lovely bass although not to take home till March. Got me a Savage Gear SGS5 9"6' 12-46g for xmas - cant wait to get the lures wet again.

those tip lights are emotional Slippy......its normally the connections are the prob....the batterys can last a long time.... try putting tin foil in the cap end so you can just get it to close and fit correctly.........that normally transforms them into a reliable and valuable bit of gear....also......if the blue`s are to bright.....take a black marker pen to them.... congrats on the fish.........Thanks for Sharing.....

some good cod marks over my way buddy north west cumbria also have you been to balcary rocks scotland or colve end scotland they are big cod marks buddy couple of decent codling caught nice one i normally use black lug tipped with squid works a treat on a flowing trace thanks for sharing ive been up to the mull of galloway and had a few good sessions there but its dangerous in places good luck for 2022 all the very best martyn 👍

Hello from Hawaii. A useful tip would be to wrap some reflective tape down the length of your rods so you can see it at night. We do that here on almost all our rods so you can see them better (and much, much farther) and you don't need a light on your tip. We also use local made stainless steel bells mounted on a wrapped stainless tube below or above the first guide for a strike alert, but I doubt Hawaii stores can ship to the UK.

Hello in Hawaii! Thanks for the tip! I actually have some reflective tape on my rods, but try not to use my torch too much, I've found a light can scare the fish away since they're feeding so close to shore, so a tip light seems the be the way to go. I do like the bell idea as well, I'll check out amazon. Tight lines👍🎣

@@SlippyLimpets I personally use a headlamp with a red light feature so it doesn't spook the fish but it still reflects the tape, and it's pretty dim compared to the spotlight. As far as I know, Amazon doesn't have anything stainless, but they do have some in copper or some other metal (I think) but it does rust over time.
