Just what I needed - seeing you do a massive drive, be (grudgingly) polite to jobsworth coppers who try and get their 'numbers' up, dodge the local, antlered, car-radiator breakers, and get soggy feet on a hike...why you ask? All to go fishing! You inspired me to get into the same game, young man - thank you for reminding me of the many reasons why. Sea Eagle, otter, red deer, porpoise...and beautiful fishing in beautiful places - no crowds! Absolutely toppa! I wonder how the next day went? Thanks Nathan - stay safe; tight lines. Gary

@@SlippyLimpets It sure did! I was up exploring northern tip of Skye last weekend - new spots - and i had a cracking day and a half! 20 fish from beautiful orange striped pollock under 1lb to a new pb I estimated at 7lb, as it was 66cm or so! Fat and healthy too! Had a memorable time, yet again. The biggest one was on a Mitchell avocet salt reel , sized 2000 - so it was a scrap and a half! Reel is making strange noises now...i changed to my BG Magsealed 3000 after that. Even the multitude of idiot drivers doing 29 mph in a 6 ton camper home, choking up the roads and causing issues didn't dampen my spirits. Great place - shame about the abuse from multitudes on the roads driving at dangerously slow speed. Saw some mad bikers doing crazy moves at mental speeds too, and then passed one that had crashed near Eilean D castle - looked horrific. Ambulance was there and blood all over the road. Needs addressing, the traffic issue.

Great video and stunning scenery. Your grit determination and persistence paid off! I am the south coast and new to lrf. How far do I need to cast? Would I need an additional weight as well as the lure?
@SlippyLimpets Жыл бұрын
Thanks David. It really depends on the ground you're fishing and for which species. If it's shallow then you need a bit of distance but if it's deep at your feet you probably don't have to cast that far. Best thing to do is try casting different distances and letting your lure sink to all parts of the water column until you find a fish. Once you hook one, then try and remember how far and how deep your lure was. Takes a wee bit of practice but you'll get there. Tight lines🎣👍

Really enjoyed that video (tbf always enjoy your videos!) I’m still new to lure fishing - can you explain ‘the count’, I’m assuming it’s the time between the lure hitting the surface and touching the bottom but how do you know when it’s reached the bottom? Presumably when the line stops coming off the reel? Keep up the good work mate!
@SlippyLimpets Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay. Yeah, the count is a way to work out roughly where the fish l, and how deep they are, rather than how deep you're fishing, especially since each lure has a different sink rate. The process goes like this; stick a lure and fan your casts from left to right and start counting from the point your lure hits the water until it hits the seabed, and repeat until you've finished casting to the right. If you hook into a fish then that will give you a general indication of the direction and how deep the fish is. Repeat this every time you change lure. Hope this helps

Hello Nathan. Nice score on the music, you keep coming up trumps. Stunning scenery and a very well put together piece of content. Sorry the Police sucked some of the joy out of your trip. Alreet Martin, I'm glad you liked it, even though there wasn't an especially difficult approach.
