Those out of bound boxes are used for various things, such as trigger points for in-game events, origin points for particle effects, moving large objects around the environment while setting up a scene, etc

The box on the back at 13:40 is a bounding box the devs used to group and hide away in game objects (its sort like a cache at this point)

That white box outside the map is usually used for spawning entities (enemies, the player character etc) They can also be used to store cutscenes
