Heart breaking, bet i have photos of most of the C.N./ I.C./BOCL ones! (Dave).

Hi Dave. It is sad indeed ! Not long ago at all, it seems, we were used to seeing the cowl units with some regularity. But things changed fast, and in the last year they pretty much all disappeared from the southern Ontario scene. I just had to have a last look at them before they were cut up. Thanks for visiting, Dave, and have a gret weekend. James.

Wow. It's so sad to see these beautiful locomotives sitting here, waiting to be scrapped. I'm more than a little melancholy after watching this footage. But thank you for one last glimpse at these beauties.

Hi Andrew. I understand how you feel. After seeing the mini funeral train in 'A Day With Trillium - Part 1' earlier this particular day, I felt compelled to visit that scrap yard to see if that is were the cowl unit ended up. It is remarkable how quickly the cowl units disappeared from active service. It seems like only a year ago we would see them occasionally. So every time a I see any kind of GP I feel thankful. Best regards to you both. James.

Great, lots of diesel locomotives. Good weekend, from Japan...
Hi Nik. Thanks so much. Very generous comments for sure, and I do appreciate it. It just seems like yesterday that we were seeing those cowl units from time to time. I miss them. I hope that you have a great weekend. (despite the sad video). James.

Hi James, an interesting video from a locomotive dismantling site. Some of the locomotives actually still look very good, I can still remember times when such locomotives were given a second life. To save materials and money. . Great video, thanks for sharing and have a nice Sunday. Kind regards Wolfgang

Bleib sicher. James.

I’d love to see a couple of the Dash 8-40CWs restored to their as delivered Santa Fe war bonnet colors, as well at least one Dash 8-40C restored to its original Chicago and North Western appearance!

Hello Armando. Thank you for commenting. I am not familiar with the the vintage Chicago & North Western livery. I'll have to h=check that one out. James.

Looks like a lot of those units were stored in Council Bluffs, IA for a bit. Kinda weird they were brought all the way out here on a line that only sees 2 trains a day (one each way, probably only weekdays). The line in CB had IC 2462, CN 2019, BCOL 4623, CN 2424, CN 2008, CN 2003, CN 2038, CN 2005, CN 2037, BCOL 4619, CN 2402, CN 2036, CN 2432, BCOL 4620, CN 2431, CN 2434, CN 2444, CN 2180, CN 2446, CN 2130, CN 2440, CN 2108, BCOL 4603, CN 2126, CN 2120, CN 2134, CN 2117, CN 2148 and CN 2118 IC 2462 - CN 2180 were taken back in July CN 2130 - CN 2118 were taken this month And CN 2446 is still sitting in CB, in a publicly accessible spot. It got set off for an unknown reason, likely failing a break test or something.

Thank you for your visit. I appreciate it. It is a long long way to drag these retired units - no doubt about it. In Ontario we did witness several such funeral trains last summer and a number of local fans made videos of them moving north from the border. From what I have been lead to understand they are sold at auction. I wonder who picks up the freight charges for their transportation. Probably the buyer. So there must be good money in scrapping them if that is the case. James.

Of course those ALCOs are begging to be saved! The HR412 may be the only one of its kind left! It is a shame that the HR616s never got preserved and all were scrapped.

Hi Armando. Alco's - I felt the same as soon as I saw them there in the raw video footage. What a shame to see them there. Perhaps that sentiment is why they are at the furthest end of the scrapyard tracks. Just waiting for someone to pick them up for scrap prices.

seria bueno que en vez de desguezarlas a esas dash 8 se las vendan al tren interoceanico que de seguro se las compran
@FrogandFlangeVideo11 ай бұрын
Saludos a México, Kevin. Mantenerse seguro. Jaime.
