I dunno. It sounds fantastic. Not just from this demo, but from other KZbin channels as well. They all seem to say the same thing. Of course its not a SLO-100, but, it's close and gets the job done, albiet not as tight. What do expect from a pedal? I'm definately jumping on one of these as soon as I can. Great job Pete, as always, you are on point.

I love the original version of the SLO pedal, having a second channel would be super handy. Shame they haven't included a noise gate though, if I was upgrading I'd probably look at one of the Universal Audio pedals...

If you had to choose between an actual SLO 100 head and the new X88IR purely on tone and feature set with no regard to cost, which would you pick if you could only have one?

I think it would depend on whether or not I was performing live or primarily recording. The preamp is an excellent recording tool. And there would be cross over there if one was performing live but having to go direct. Now, if you're primarily playing through a cabinet, cranking it up live, probably go Amp.

Kind of disappointing that you only played it into the front of an amp since this pedal is marketed with the claim that “the SLO PLUS makes a fantastic preamp when running into a power amplifier or IR loader.”

Sounds like shit. Happy not to have Soldano crappy amp. What a waste of money.. 🤣😂 Im a happy user of the old BOSS GT-100... Thats the only thing I need because it is always going in the back of the amp FX return. And of course I have my plugins with real amp profiles if I need to record something weird.. Guitar equipment went far in sound and quality. I wish I had that 30 years ago.
