My best friend in early elementary school had to leave school early one day. We/our class was in the library and the secretary called her over the intercom to come to the front office. We briefly talked and I asked ," Where she was going?" She replied, "To the dentist." I said, "Ok." Our eyes met and I knew I would never see her again but I wasn't sure why. We were only 7 at the time (this was in the mid 70's). Later on that night my mother took a phone call and found out that my friend, her mother, her brother, and sister were all killed in a head on collision. Her husband and only remaining child who were at home at the time survived. My school dedicated a corner of the library in her name. That's friend's name was Faith. Faith has carried me very far in my life.

Could have been Steve Jobs goes away on a long weekend boat trip with his family and ends up being in a position to jump in the water to save his drowning dad on a long weekend in Canada. One of my best adult decisions was to stop buying Christmas presents for adults! I would buy for kids, but not for anyone who already had whatever they needed. I prefer to gift folks when I feel like it, not when I feel obligated to do it by cultural pressure.

Same decision in my household too. This year we started the “Round Robin” game. All adults who played the game received 1 gift. All were happy that the burden of trying to figure out what to buy adults that didn’t need anything or wanted anything had ended. We all had fun and ate lots of food and deserts.

@arciecola thank goodness not just me told my adult children when they had kids the kids got presents they didnt now lol first couple yrs grandkids did buy for the parents then thought why am I they probably bought more expensive girt sets etc than ones I did anyway which had proven to me when one obviously forgot who bought her this what thought was eautifu heart shaped gift set with name never heard before so thought might be lovely for her to get somethigng untried had few lovely nits and beautiful candle in so thought ive knocked ot out the park with this one and wasnt cheap either ut not expensive we too lol anyway she seemed delighted until as said she must forgot who gifted her it and I got it as a present for birthday couple yrs later yes she is the type keeps things even if she uses,I never said word although by her face when I opened it I think suddenly dawned o her as she had a kind oh sh^^ ook on her face lol asked her what was wrong so nicely and without any hint of it being one I had gifted so she relaxed lol I was actually deighted got it as dont uy expensive not even mid range exoensive for myself lol anyway though obv adukts dnt care so told them no more kids only ones without kids woud get resent but wouldnt be usual cut right back I was happy with my desvion until other parents shamed me oh no I could never they still your Kids blah de blah blah so aked my kids didnt mind so others can go jump but your one first other that I have heard say this so thank you for helping this guilty mum for feeling less guilty not im tight but kids first am I right ?

I lost my sister before Xmas im 2019. She had Parkibsons. Used to take my collie puppy up to lay with her and bisit with the others in the placd she was at. Last bisit she told me hoodbye that she wouldnt be there for my next bisit. She wasnt. So to honor her I keep my happy memories. Her oldest daughter passed 2 years later Our Mom 2 years before. I miss them all. But they are remembered talked about and loved.

The topic of dementia, it has come out that long term use of some types of antidepression meds and sleeping med (not sure if bothe OTC or script) proven to cause short term memory loss. If Robin, Wendy + Bruce were doing both long term, and add binge alcohol, that might have fried their brains. But adding unnatural electric currents to the brain also quickly destroys the synapsis.

Prayers of strength to the Family 🙏 I lost my Father Sept 12, he was the Leader of his clan people. He took care of one of the Winter solstice ceremonies and ceremonial objects. Without him performing it this year, was a total loss of feeling and uncertainties 😢🙏
