I was in a physical rehab place after a very debilitating bout with sepsis. As I started to feel better, I kept saying, "I want to go home". All of a sudden I was singing it, and found the video on youtube. It did actually help me go home! Great job guys!

Just some guys sitting around and doing a quite good version of a well known song. Nationality doesn't matter, not to the singers and not to the listeners! Music is the universal language and transcends borders! As a long-time Beach Boys fan, I'm so glad to see this take on their version of the folk song! The worries of the world will interject themselves soon enough, but for now I'm just smiling and going to listen to this excellent rendition again!

어릴적 토종 노래인 듯한 Sloop jhon B를 만났다. 등장한 인물들과 분위기가 딱 술집, 젓가락 두들기며 흥이나면 누군가의 선창이 합창으로 이어지던... 여기서 시대의 아픔을, 문학과 쇠주, 막걸리의 상관관계를 늦도록 지껄이며 나는 살았고 마시고 싸웠다. 그런데 지금도 홀로이 흥얼거리는 선상반란을 이렇게 즐겁게 듣다니 아니 기쁠수가! 덤으로 목화밭까지 불러주는구나! 면면이 나와 비슷한 감성의 나이구나. 노래도, 분위기도, 사람도 잊어버린 좀 스마트하고 깔끔한 이 시대에 LP판 구르는 아날로그 흥겨움을 더불어 기뻐한다. 어찌하여 내 주변은 늙던 젊던 다 새것만 찾는 것인지... 캐롤조차 듣기 힘든데... 술들은 좀 하시는지... 건강하시길...

I just discovered this video. I DO very much like this rendition of Sloop John B. These guys such a gleeful and contagious enthusiasm! I see many mentions of the Beach Boys in the comments. It is worth remembering that Beach "Boy" Al Jardine was a kind of bridge between that band and the Kingston Trio--from whom the Beach Boys lifted this song and, according to Jardine, the penchant for matching sport shits!!! Keep the music alive!!!
