Slot Car Track Build and Race Carerra

Quick video of a little hobby just picked up. Slot Car Racing Track, Carerra Digital. Welded up a light aluminum frame, topped it with Foam Board that the track sits on. Installed pulley and motor to lift it up out of the way.

Jim, Your track is so cool. It brings back memories from a long time ago when I used to go to a slot car track on Friday and Saturday night to race. Not as high tech as what you are doing now but still a whole lot of fun. I still have a few cars from over fifty years ago. Thank you.

Welcome to Carrera and yes drinking is allowed with slots. I have the sign to prove it. 😃Very good introductory video. I liked the explanation of the hoist system and demonstration. Mines a little too big to put on a hoist through. 😉

Jim, very nice setup. I just updated my Carrera set to digital and set it up in my garage. The closest public track to me is Avon Park. I wanted something within walking distance. lol

I am always on the lookout for a larger home here in DFW as I would like to create an outdoor racetrack around 200 ft or so. I’m looking for ways to weatherproof. Your lift system is a really great solution to a large layout and still useable space.

I raise my 14 ft boat and trailer up in my shop. A great idea, also I added a light 💡 underneath to offset the darkness it created on the floor. As kids we had a slot car track in the basement and had a great time with our friends.

Thanks for the comment yeah a light underneath is pretty smart because it does block out the light. I actually also have a 14-ft jon boat in the barn.

Didbyku use and boards under your polystyrene sheets never thought it would hold good way of keeping the cost done if you did looks good

Thank you for reaching out nope. Did not use any boards just the foam it's pretty strong. Aluminum frame helps keep it rigid

Hi Scott So the 1st piece you need is a Bluetooth dongle, That connects to an android tablet that that has the smart race app installed, the tablet connects via HDMI cable to a to the TV.

Hi Lufrano thank you! Layout is 64" Wide x 158" Long Built out on Custom Aluminum Frame with 2" foam board as base so entire layout is very light can easily be carried by two people.

Hi, its just a styrofiam base painted green. Track set on it directly nothing else. So the track is not attached in any way.
