I’m 51 and kids today will never understand the fun of these slot cars, that we had in the 70’s. Thanks for bring back memories. 🇨🇦👍🏼

You know I completely forgot about all the fun we had with slot cars until I saw this video. Every Saturday morning EVERYONE headed to the neighborhood track. I started to remember about the first time I bought a pair of candies for my car. Sooooooo Much FUN and who could make their car the fastest. The kids today would look at you like you were from Mars. They're missing out !!!!!

I’m curious Barry, why would kids today not understand?
@aussiedave19623 жыл бұрын
No, Barry , you're right, kids today WILL never know the fun and enjoyment that things like a simple slot car or model train set or a billie cart or a tree house or any of that sort of stuff can bring and that's very sad. But, I'm turning 59 next month and the frame for the table for my AFX Aurora tack is coming along quite nicely. And then we start going backwards in birthdays lol.

I am 63 and way back in the early 70s I remember spending hours at my buddy's basement with our slot cars. Brings back great memories. Thanks for sharing.

I am 60 and I had an unfinished basement , we set up a road course , we used every piece of track we had it took 4 power pack's to power the entire track , hey Will B. if you were there you would know what we were smoking beside tires . Ah the good old day's when 12 pack of beer and some Afgan Black Hashish was all you needed , I can still remember most of it. HAHA . I learned the hardway not to paint my cars with autobody paint , I sadly watched my 69 Charger body slowly dissolved , never happen again .

My older brother got a Strombecker slot car set in the 60’s. I used to sit and watch him race for hours. From then on we would get a slot car set for Christmas every year. I’m 64 and I still have slot cars and I still get a thrill whenever see a video about them. But I’ve never seen anything like yours before! Thanks 😊

I remember as a kid in the 60s we had these cars, not so detailed as these, we used to go to a place and rent a spot on the track for an hour.

I had a slot dragger when I was a kid that'd do a scaled quarter mile in .890 seconds. It was sick. We had 3 feet of foam padding at the end of the strip to keep it from smashing through the wall. The good ol days

There was an oval slot car track in a corner spot at a local strip center when I was a kid in the 70's. I didn't have the money to even go inside but I would watch through the windows and thought how cool it would be to have a set up like that. I never saw a drag strip with slot cars. Thanks for the video.

Really cool video. As a kid I really got into slot cars. I had a set that had two dragsters and a lit up Christmas tree. The cars had a swivel thing on them where the old style woven brushes contacted the track. This allowed them to pull wheelies without losing power.. Then we really got into building our own cars. Knock off hubs, rewinding the motor's, anything to make them go faster. I still remember the tire material being called Stalastic. It was the same material Super Balls were made of. They really gripped the track.
@daviddennison42873 жыл бұрын

We used to do this in the 70s with our standard slotcars and WD40. The spinning tires would leave burnout marks on the softened plastic track.

We used to over-oil the armatures on hour HO cars so they would leave little trails of smoke.
@sammoore91203 жыл бұрын
Most definitely cool! Watch that rail closely, you can see the tires grow under the centrifugal forces just like the full size ones! I’m a little confused by all the foamies (tires). Back in my day we would have used candies (a silicone tire) or white circles (a soft foam tire with a super thin coating of silicone) for extra traction are those no longer available?

Nice effect... just coat the tires with a little powder...burn out smoke.
using drag bars that are a certain length, more or less turn your rwd car into a fwd car temporarily. in theory this should mean that just making the care fwd would shed weight, and 2 wheels, meaning a potentially faster car, odd looking, if you insist on the same engine placement, or close, but still better performing, and that's what counts. aerodynamics would change, but not all that much, you could still produce a long overhang front end to support the engine and drivetrain, adding weight above the drive wheels enhancing traction, with the only missing element being the wheels and supporting structures for them.
@mykemech3 жыл бұрын
I would love to see some one dub these with real dragster sounds.
