Slot It & Sideways Sloting Plus Replacement Guide Swap

The standard Slot It (and Sideways as they use the same parts) guides are fine on a Carrera slot car track if you leave the magnets in your cars. However, if you don't then the standard guides aren't really up to the job.
Most of the US and Canada based KZbinrs opt for the Frankenslot replacement guides, I'm sure these are great, but getting them un the UK is tricky. Our retailer (sounds a bit like Rendle Lots Pacing) stocks the Sloting Plus guides. These are a pretty easy fit upgrade for the Slot It cars and I'm sure with very little persuasion would work in other brands too.

Nice vid as always. It is the graphite in the pencil that acts as a lube. I use them on airsoft guns where wet lube would be bad

Great video Dave, I have not tried that guide. I need to look into those. I have been using the Slot Invasion guides for some of my cars.

Have you found much difference in using the SI guides? I have 10 cars with them, maybe they're quieter?

"fiddly grub screws" Yes they are, every time I put new brushes in a Slot It car it gets easier, but its some tiny parts to deal with. It seems a little old school compared to a 2 minute brush swap in a carrera car. But it works. I like the pencil lead plan. Its weird how a carrera car is SO sideways and fishtail happy with no magnets, and a Slot it car has almost no magnet to start with, but hooks up pretty well that way. Fine tuning makes a big difference for either car.

I think a lot of it with the Carrera cars is the tyres are made of the hardest rubber on earth.... that then randomly degrades at some point almost overnight. I've managed to get my Carrera RS3200 Capris to run OK without the magnets, I put over 50 grams into their CSL BMW though and it's still a handful

Dave, how do you fix the wires inside the tubular eyelets?

Just feed them through and fold them overate the end so wires gets held between eyelet and guide
