It's true. I've never truly won from slots. If I did win, I couldn't walk away because of the awesome flashing lights and sounds lol, so it would end up gobbling the money I won and then some. Table games on the other hand, I have won. It's not wise to play those either, but it's the least unwise category of casino games. You can get lucky at craps, baccarat, blackjack, etc. like I have. Those are games I can truly say I've won at before. I've never really been able to say that about slots for the most part.

I worked for a casino and I play slot for enjoyment, like the majority of people. There are a minority of people who can and will get addicted to anything, food, sex etc. People with low will power and IQ will get addicted to anything. I guess it’s easy to demonize casinos because the owners are making big bucks of of people’s stupidity.

As a former casino employee, I would like to give the following advice: 1. Don't play slot machines, they are addictive. 2. If you do, use only as much as you can withstand losing. Set aside before you start, never go over it. 3. If you are lucky to win a bigger win, be happy but do not think it will happen again.
@elenaarman-tang78115 жыл бұрын
Excellent advice! I never played slots until I was around 45 yrs old. I won approximately $3,500 on a $2.00 after only 3 pulls $6.00. I became addicted very soon after that "big win." But after my husband was laid off, my addiction was just about done!

There absolutely is a drug/chemical involved with gambling addiction, and it is called dopamine which is in the brain and is constantly released while a gambling addict is anticipating a win/reward. So, the winning part is highly addictive in itself, but the anticipation of (hopefully) winning is the huge addiction and definitely has the same effect as heroin and crack cocaine. Gambling is pure evil, and slot machines are the absolute worst.

My "system" is to set a walk away amount. I go in content on losing my entire budgeted bankroll (and not a penny more). However, I'll set an amount that if I ever reach I will walk away. For example, I might go in with $250 and say $500 is my walk away amount. I'm either leaving down $250 or up $500 or more. However, once/if I do reach that $500 the day is finished.

Went back to casino with that 200 and doubled it after playing all day. (And receiving free soft drinks and free dinner) Once I doubled my money I went up to the free hotel room and slept. Left the next day. Did I want to play more? Sure! Did I wonder if I could turn that 400 into 4,000? Naturally. Technically I could have played back down to the 200 I came with. But I left. When I go to a Casino, I allow myself a certain amount of money to play slots! If I lose the money that I have allocated myself, then I walk away. If I win a few line hits, and make a profit, I walk away happy! If I put in $200 in a $5 dollar slot machine and win a few line hits, not hand pays but line hits that doubles my money, then I’m happy with a nice small profit! If you have a serious problem with losing your hard earned money, then seek help!

If you must play slot machines, (they are not really slot machines because there are no coins involved) do not ever play the penny slot machines or any slot machine that has more than 3 reels. There are a lot of regular players who really enjoy slot machines as a recreational activity. I often forget it is even gambling. The issue with gambling in casinos is that that games are fixed. Its rare that you win. The real winner is the casino. The deceptive part of gambling is the illusion that you can win & that's the real issue.

Even worse now with online casinos. You don't even have to leave your house to lose your house.
@blakelewison98724 жыл бұрын
I agree with the Governor on this issue. People have always gambled and will continue to gamble. No ones forcing anyone to gamble it’s the individuals choice. It’s smart for the government to tax it.

That guy dosen't get it. And his argument that people would be gambling anyway only applies to a very small minority that go out of their way to gamble. I speak from experience. I never liked casinos since the first time I stepped into one and smelled all the cigarette smoke that clung to our clothes and stunk up our car when we left right away. Years later my in laws invited us and as much as we stood away for years. We got addicted to gambling because of the new, attractive machines and easy access to casinos. Won 4,000, 2,000, 2,000, 3,000, lost about 60,000 to 100,000. There's no money for anything else other than bills. I used to enjoy all kinds of self care. Now I have to think twice about getting a simple haircut, color, mani/pedi. But there's always hundreds to drop down the slot machines. I am disgusted and holding on to our money. I like the music and socializing but that's it. Slots are boring compared to everything else one could be doing.

Here in Nicaragua there's casinos in every city. They all have old machines from the USA. Example...if it's a quarter machine, here you put in cordobas. It takes 33 cords to make one dollar.

I've had both good and bad experiences with slot machines and casinos. The last 5 times I went I have won 3 times, left with what I came with once and lost all my money once. 2 weeks ago I won 1,847 and then 800 in same hour. Took the money I won and paid off the cruise partner and I are going on next year, bought Christmas gifts for my family and kept 200 of it for myself. Went back to casino a week later with that 200 and doubled it after playing all day. But I left. People just need willpower.

Gambling is perfectly okay. Only take cash with you leave your cards at home and leave the keys at home only gamble what you’re willing to lose. Bring a lock box with you put your winnings in that box you’d be surprised with how much you’ve won. The issue is almost everyone puts the winnings right back into the slots. At the end of the day you should only be going there to have fun. If your not having fun anymore at the casino then go home. Listen you don’t win because you gamble. You win because you stop.

I am retired, and I have a degree in math. I know the range of preset odds in slot machines (it varies from place to place and they will not tell you but you can figure 86% to 94% payback. I know what this does in the long run. You will always lose. If you go with $100, you will go home (on average) 86 to 94 bucks. AND YET, I enjoy going down to the Casino and hanging out, and I never mind losing fifty, but I do not like losing 100. I can afford it, and it's social and fun. However, when I am there, I watch the other people there and I see how they gamble and I can get a bit of an idea who they are and if they can afford to gamble the way they do. It's heartbreaking. As a result, I am against casino gambling, especially slots, bingo and lotteries. None of it does any good for mankind, and I do particularly not support government-sponsored gambling. Government should not be in the business of coercing people to do things against their better good.

Iv been gambling for many years but iv NEVER touched a slot machine in my entire life. I prefer games where you need to use your brain and have a strategy. Baccarat, Poker, Craps....The house edge on Baccarat is just 1.4%. ....Over the years i have won more money then iv lost. Stay away from the slots. its just a total waste of time & money.

+Jay B ".Over the years i have won more money then iv lost. " against casinos.? I don't gamble, play cards or bet. I suck at it. I visited friends in Vegas yrs ago, it was interesting just observing in the casino's, on the plane home I listened to BS artists all claiming how much they won this trip. All talking ragtime .
@JayB29 жыл бұрын
jonesgerard Yes against casinos. But i went in there already skilled @ the games having spent much time practicing before ever walking into a casino. And no i did not win all the time. I'm saying i won more money then i have lost overall. and that's the truth. And yes your right most people do lie about how much they win. The most common thing is someone will tell you they "won $1500" on a certain trip. But they forget to mention they lost $1700. lol, that's very common. They may have actually won the $1500. But its not the accurate picture of what happened that night. I tell people what my profit was. If i win $1700 but lose $1500 on a given evening, ill tell you my profit was $200. Because its more accurate. But yes your right most people do lie about it when it comes down to it. And overall most people do lose allot more then they win. It also takes discipline. If I'm having a bad night i do NOT stay and try to win back my money. I get the hell out of there. Iv done that a few times. It takes self control to do that. But another reason i have never lost allot of money at one time. You have to have a plan and have self control, otherwise i do not recommend gambling. Because casinos will take you to the CLEANERS!
