one thing not mentioned which might be important to some... i believe the Carerra track is more tarnish (rust) resistant because of lower steel content (more nickel?)... in high humidity environments the maintenance of Scalextic and Ninco would be a major pain

Can digital scalextric cars run on digital Carreras tracks , or do you need to swap digital component.... ?

I highly recommend Carrera Digital 1/32 & 1/24, Its the only way to go huge. You can race Scalextrix cars on Carrera Digital if you buy and equip a Carson digital chip to most of Scalextrix cars. You'll be very happy and enjoying the huge racetrack.

The biggest problem you have with Scalextric or Carrera track is vehicle compatibility and guide flags. You might want to steer clear of digital stuff unless you're only going to have one brand of car/vehicle. As time goes on, you'll find that racing NSR cars to be the most operational.

I'm fixing to get back into slotcar racing. It's been many years since i've even seen a track. I've been trying to figure out which brand I want to go with. There is a track out there where you have a choice on whether you want to switch lanes or you don't. If you want to block another driver or you need to get from behind another driver you have the choice. Can you tell me which brand I'm thinking of please. I'm bedridden at the moment and unable to get up much right now so i've got my nephew going to help me get everything going until i'm able to get back on my feet enough to start working on it on my own but back to the track. I see where many of the tracks are interchangeable but I still am stuck on the track that gives you a little more options in lane changes and also interchangeable cars. Any of you guys help would be appreciated so much it's hard to understand being stuck and not able to do much. Thank you guys.

Digital tracks allow multiple cars to be run on each lane, for the cars to switch lanes on special pieces of track, and for other stuff like pace cars or ghost cars, fuel consumption, race length, etc. You can upgrade an analogue track and cars to run on digital by buying the appropriate pieces, or just buy a digital set to begin with. All analogue track for all brands are compatible. However, each brand uses their own digital technology, so only cars with that brand's chip in it will work on their track. People have found ways to install digital chips across different brands of cars, but it's not always easy to pull off.

Hi Damien, Great video! One question: Are you sure the snow track is not magnetic? I know the SCX sow curve is not magnetic. It uses aluminum rails but I have read in forums that the Ninco snow track, while very smooth and slippery is still magnetic. Can you test that and let us know? Cheers....

+Jeremy Lin hi Jeremy, thanks for the response but that is not really the point. If you take the magnets out of the car they will slide on any type of track. Damien said the Ninco snow track is not magnetic but I have heard otherwise and I wanted him to confirm.

This guy is very nice to Carrera. Carrera is the most difficult to assemble/disassemble, and the clips are badly made and easy to break.

Well I only could understand about 1 word in 5 during this video, he speaks to fast for broken English! I being new to the modern tracks and cars and so on I do have a nice large Strombecker track but I want the modern track or maybe I'll have to build one from wood. I am looking for more better talking video's to watch and get the full understanding of these newer slot cars and track. I do wish He talked better and not so fast with a mumble between words as he has a lot of information to offer!!
