Sloth Bears Are Tiger Killers | The Bear Alignment Chart

Sloth bears might be insectivorous, but being an Indian ecologist, I can only HOPE I never see one while hiking. They're known to attack and maul humans who venture into their vicinity. This is especially likely in breeding season or when a female is with her cubs. Once you see the photos of the aftermath of a Sloth Bear mauling, you'll think twice before hiking in the wilderness of the Indian Subcontinent.

Yeah... I read that Sloth Bears have evolved that hyper aggressiveness as a defense mechanism to deal with tigers which are stronger than the sloth bears and actually prey on these bears. The Sloth Bear's perennial fight-ready aggression often makes the tiger back off...

Sloth bears and moon bears are not harmless to humans and both have a tendency to attack the head which evolved from having to fight off tigers and leopards.

Moon bears and Sun bears look like brothers who represent polar opposites. Like they both witnessed some great wisdom of the universe, and they handled it in totally different ways. Moon bears look so enlightened and at peace. Sun bears look so haunted and maddened.

Polar bears are my favorite but they're the only bears who actively attack humans. This was very creative categorizing them like this.

Pretty sure that is not true, And I think you meant track humans as prey, any of them will actively attack you under the right circumstances, like threatening their young. There are also stories of other kinds of bears hunting down humans, if I am not mistaken.

They only do that when sick and/or desperate. Which happens more and more due to climate change. There’s not as many deaths from polar bears as you think. Sloth bears kill way more

Just full disclosure, to anyone too oblivious to realize it, ALL BEARS ARE POTENTIALLY HARMFUL TO HUMANS. NOT TO BE APPROACHED CARELESSLY. That being said, the alignment chart is quite accurate in terms of behavioral tendencies, and it's cool to see their levels of intellect on full display.

Except Sloth bears. Polar bears consider humans food, they attack them. Sloth bears are known to attack for no reason. They kill more people annually than Grizzlies and polars combined and their mauling leaves the survivors horribly disfigured. Mauled by a sloth bear is one of the worst ways to die in the wild.

Grizzlies in the US, for example, are in danger of being removed from endangered species listing, & if that happens, thrill killing trophy hunters will go after celebrity bears first, like 399 & her lineage. We know what is happening to wolves in WY, MT, & ID due to delisting. Once trophy hunters can throw a label on bears as 'evil,' they have an excuse to wipe them out. Grizzlies have a very slow reproductive rate, & these state agencies are captured by people who don't care about ecosystems biology & balance, welfare ranchers, unethical trophy hunters, fear mongers. So, NOPE, bears are NOT evil.

5:30: Brown bears are a natural predator of black bears. It isn't super common, but it isnt super rare. Brown bears go after the cubs and the mom bears won't do anything about it but run or hide because they know they'd lose the fight

I went out surveying a few days ago. On arrival, I saw a small black bear eating some leaves. I waited three minutes for it to leave. Another time I was coming back from surveying. Near that lot is Bear Track Road, and I saw an adult and a few cubs cross the street.

ever noticed that asiatic bears have white spots on their chest? it turns out that is probably because of tigers. as tiger tend to attack from behind and asiatic bears are usually black, tigers would not be able to differentiate between the front or the back of a bear from distance. so having that white spot on their chest makes clear to a tiger that they are looking at the front of an animal. it being such a common thing i guess this is a pretty effective way to reduce the amount they are killed by tigers. pretty cool

Pandas have actually been known to viciously attack predators, and humans who come near their babies. They also get aggressive if you come into their territory, or if you just get too close to them in the wild.
